What saddens me is there are few posters in this thread and tons of posters in the hate threads. This **** is not just a game people lose there liives in the ring ,my friend james thunder has permanent damage to his body and his brain from fighting, look at freddie roach i bet you anything he would have stopped it before Victor the docter or anyone else did because he knows what its like to stand in that squared circle.

Well, he knew what he was getting into when he signed the waivers. Even before that when he chose boxing as a profession.
Ortiz wouldn't have been acting the way he did(shrugging his shoulders and all that) if he felt his life was at stake. Cotto had more reason to go to a knee. I know I make alot of jokes about Cotto quitting but I dont blame him for taking the knee and quitting.
Ortiz on the other hand wasn't in too much danger. Who's to say with some slight adjustment he would have turned the tables the next round? Now we can never find out because he gave up. Champions fight through the pain and dig deep to the later rounds. Ortiz just gave up.Comment

What if Ortiz would have fought on and died in the ring,it happens guys i have seen it to many times,we dont need what happened to Levander Johnson or to Oscar Diaz to happen again, none of us can feel what was going on in Victors head, he has a family to support and i do not blame him one bit for putting them aead of his fans. any thoughts guys.
I have no interest in watching boxing if it consists of guys quitting the minute they start getting roughed up.Comment

so what exactly is your point? what you said applies to every single fight and to every fighter. He's the one that decided to become a pro boxer, and a career like that comes with certain expectations from the boxing public. If a fighter can't accept the fact that he will have the **** kicked out of him and will be required to fight through it, then he should find another career.

he took some he gave some but that's boxing. the guy who can take it more comes out the winner and that's what maidana did. he got floored 3 times but he got up 3 times too. the guy's really has limited skills, in fact ortiz is obviously more skilled, but he got a bigger heart more than his power. it's his heart that won the fight for him and he will always be a dangerous opponent to anyone. what happened to ortiz is somewhat gpb's fault too...they hype the kid too much, although he showed a lot of promise, but to hype him as the next big boxing star this early on his career is i think too much for him handle.Comment
