no point in this thread.
some floyd stan says hatton ducked cotto that's why.
i don't think ricky ducked cotto.
a guy that fights may , pac and kostya would not duck a cotto.
kostya was king of his division for a long time. had all the belts including the lineal and ring titles.
pac and may well they were pac and may.
cotto is not on that level. cotto is good but nothing special.
lopez will be the best puerto rican fighter of this era.Comment

but I am not sold on juanma yet.. I like his potential, but when the hour of truth comes that he has to dig deep to get out of a bad situation is when I will say that he might be the best rican of this era.
At this point in my opinon cotto has been in deep waters and has suvived.Comment

None yet. We'll see if he beats any of them by the time he finishes. I'm surprised at the Tszyu hate though. I think he's one of the most underrated fighters of the modern era. Sad.
As for people saying that Cotto could beat Tszyu at 140, that's just laughable. The Hatton version of Tszyu still beats Cotto pretty easily. He just gets hit too much, and that old version of Tszyu would always still beat you if you gave him time to get set and Cotto doesn't fight like that. He's too patient to beat Tszyu, and I wouldn't be surprised if he got knocked out. Difference between him, Torres and Corley is that if Tszyu hurts someone once they are finished. One of the great finishers of our time.
If anyone thinks he's better than any of these guys, you are seriously overrating Cotto, which is not unusual as everyone seems to be overrating him lately.Comment

Another thing I've noticed is that everyone praises Cotto for fighting guys that are at the top of his divisions and the other champions as if that's amazing. Maybe you have all forgotten but Tszyu quite literally did that for over a decade. He only ever fought the top ranked fighters and the champions.
Hence being the only 140 unified champion since Aaron Pryor. He fought his first former world champion in his forth fight and his first future world champ in his sixth fight!
As a young, very green titlist he destroyed a guy that moved up to LHW and fought Glen Johnson! He was an undefeated 27-0 fighter that absolutely towered over Tszyu who was 15-0 or something ridiculous. Saying that, he also faced his first undefeated fighter in his seventh fight.
Find someone else who starts out their career like that and never lets up with that type of competition.
Damn, the 34-4 Judah was Cotto's greatest opponent at the time he fought him only two years ago. Tszyu fought the undefeated, prime version over six years earlier that was already champion and became champion again, unifying the welterweight titles and people are still even trying to compare their careers? Zab Judah hadn't won a fight in his last three fights when he faced Cotto and was at his end. What about the 38-3 Oktay Urkal who was another of Cotto's best opponents? Again, Tszyu fought the prime undefeated, number one ranked version many, many years previously.Last edited by BennyST; 06-25-2009, 11:32 PM.Comment
