      1. Cotto is a converted southpaw - Pacquiao's last three fights were: southpaw (Diaz), converted southpaw (Oscar), and pseudo-southpaw (left hand dominant Hatton). Manny Pacquiao who is born ambidextrous (adept in using both hands in his day-to-day activities), seems to be stronger when fighting left hand dominant fighters.

      2. Cotto is not a predominantly counter-puncher - The only way to beat Pacquiao is to counter him. Even that can sometimes backfires, as Pacquiao has improved dramatically, countering even the counterpuncher Marquez. Cotto doesn't have the counterpunching speed, reflex, hand-eye coordination and superb timing of Marquez.

De la Hoya tried to be a counter-puncher against Pacquiao, unfortunately Oscar's physicality is of subpar standard and what makes it worst he's left-hand dominant. What's more Pacquiao can now fight backwards.

      3. Cotto gets tired - Cotto has a habit of tapering off after the mid-rounds. Pacquiao has a reputation of having freakish stamina reservoir. Manny is a throwback to an era where rounds are more than a dozen.

      4. Cotto is much slower than Pacquiao - Speed is an inborn gift. You can't teach speed. You either have it or you don't.

Don't expect Pacquiao's speed to diminish due to weight. Remember that since 2004, Pacquiao is used to entering the ring as essentially a welterweight (146 lbs. during his 1st Marquez fight).

      5. Cotto is not physically big - Pac and Cotto has almost the same height and have an identical reach. Sure, Cotto is bulkier, but you have to remember that Pacquiao spars with middleweights, some of which he knocked down.

      6. Cotto turtles - When on the defensive, Cotto enters the turtle mode. Pacquiao has long added to his offensive arsenal fake jabs, up and down feints, with 3 or 4 punch fast combos from different angles. Manny smart fast footwork also ensure of him having high percentage of accurate punches landing when faced with turtle defense (see Diaz, De la Hoya and Hatton).

      7. Cotto's feet are usually planted - Pacquiao moves in and out, side to side, throwing trajectory angle power punches while moving at an unpredictable direction at an uncanny speed. Cotto's feet moves when he's on the defensive and when his arms are tired.
reasons 1-7 dont make any sense at all.

      Cotto by KO suckaaaaaa!!!

there's a reason why middleweights don't fight welterweights.
We shall see on November if Manny is one of those special fighters who transcend weight classes.

            1. Cotto is a converted southpaw
I think that may work to Cotto's advantage being Pacquiao's gotta focus on both Cotto's stances and his angles when he does switch up to southpaw. Cotto is a southpaw turned conventional, but that also gives him the advantage with his jab which was snapping a stronger Shane Mosley's head back. Jabs neutralize speed.

            3. Cotto gets tired
I think where you can break Cotto down is by size. Both Clottey and Margarito (more Margarito) were able to walk Cotto down to an extent and use their size to trap him and throw a high amount of punches as where Pacquiao will be an in and out affair. He doesn't have the size to push Cotto and apply that type of pressure. Where Pacquiao could be successful is with his output, but then again...does he want to trade with someone like Cotto? Cotto isn't a featherfisted fighter to say the least and Pacquiao's been rocked by fighters with less power than Cotto. What if it's Cotto who wears down Pacquiao and is able to take all Pac's punches? No one's brought up that scenario. Is Manny's mental game THAT strong? We'll see...

            7. Cotto's feet are usually planted
Most fighters who throw with accuracy at some point have their feet planted to use all the force from their waist to throw accurate and solid punches. Marquez was able to land on Pacquiao doing that exact thing and was successful in both fights. I don't see that as a disadvantage to Cotto. He doesn't necessarily stand flat on his feet for 12 rounds, he can move around and select his openings.

            4. Cotto is much slower than Pacquiao
The speed factor without question is with Pacquiao, but Cotto isn't slow whatsoever. Again, this deals with accuracy. He was able to outpoint Mosley (who was thought as the faster fighter) by using his jab and catching Mosley on the opening. Pacquiao's defense has gotten better, but he still gets hit when he exchanges. He'll have to go in and out without having to waste punches on Cotto because you better believe Cotto is going to wait for the opening...and it'll be there.

When Cotto enters fruity mode against Pac, he's finished. That ring will be soaked with blood.

Aw, that's rich considering Cotto has been cut against practically every big name opponent he's faced recently - Malignaggi, Judah, Margs, Clottey...

All it'll take is one sharp slice by Pac and his eyebrow will open up, followed by the other one. Then, he'll hop on his bike fruity style and run all night long.

                      Backpedal Counterpunching

When Marquez moves forward, Pacquiao backpedals for a counterpunch.
