pac is still a brawler. Cotto is a boxer puncher. get it right when pacquiao fights superior opposition like Marquez he goes back into brawl mode. Hatton and De la Hoya dried up and old dont count for skilled opposition. Cotto will teach him a few things in the ring just watch

Why are you always bitching about Pacquiao, did he beat your fav fighter or something?

PS: What was your prediction for the Oscar fight?

Come on guys, don't be acting like a bunch of parrots who can't think for themselves.

You cannot time what you can't see coming. Especially when the fighter you are trying to time has such a syncopated rhythm. Pacquiao does not have a normal, predictable rhythm. Being a drummer, I can see this very clearly. It's the same with Joe Calzaghe. His unpredictability and offbeat rhythm (this is why some compare his style to freeform jazz) were some of the reasons why he kept on winning. Pacquiao is similar in several ways to Calzaghe. Both southpaw, and both syncopated as ****. It's hard to beat such a style.

The opposite of these guys is someone like Hatton who has a regular rhythm and fights at one consistent pace. It's the boxing equivalent of a boring 4/4 timing -- you know exactly when and where the beats will fall, every time.

now that you mention it... people have been abusing the time kills speed shenanigans

pacquiao is timing + speed + combos = god

        good post sam,

I noticed something during the 2nd fight of Pacquiao and Marquez.

Whether its because of Roach teaching him to counter punch or its because of Manny's experience fighting Morales and Marquez, Pacquiao can now counter punch.

            Example 1: Counterpunching the Counterpuncher

Pacquiao faked a jab and as soon as Marquez started countering with a left hook, Pacquiao ducked and threw a huge left of his own. Perfect. Common during Pacquiao's sparring session but rare during his actual fights.

            Example 2: Backpedal Counterpunching

When Marquez moves forward, Pacquiao backpedals for a counterpunch.

            Example 3: Right Hook Counterpunching

In past interviews, Pacquiao said he practiced counter-punching (during Diaz, De la Hoya, Hatton training). So By the time he reaches Hatton, it was so automatic, that when Hatton telegraph his left punch, Pacquiao countered with his right hook roll under move, EVEN BEFORE HATTON PUNCH.

That's almost the same move with Marquez only in reverse. This means only one thing, Pacquiao can now counter punch with both hands.

              1. Cotto is a converted southpaw - Pacquiao's last three fights were: southpaw (Diaz), converted southpaw (Oscar), and pseudo-southpaw (left hand dominant Hatton). Manny Pacquiao who is born ambidextrous (adept in using both hands in his day-to-day activities), seems to be stronger when fighting left hand dominant fighters.
              .
Lol. i was saying this way back.

Okay, people are obssesed with this, "Marquez just counterpunched pac" crap, this is not true, he gave himself space and stepped to his left, watch the first fight, marquez stops moving to his right, gives himself space, and moves to his left to stay out of the line of pacs left hand, pac froze up becuase he isnt the same fighter when his left isnt in line.

Its hard to say since his most recent fights have been so lopsided. Cotto will give us an opportunity to see the best out of the current Pac. He's not the brawler he used to be thats for damn sure though!
