I just don't see how losing 3 lbs in 12 weeks is a big deal. I was 169 2 months ago and now I am 152 lbs. I did that by jogging 5 miles per day twice per week and including 12 rds on the heavy bag, 2 times per week- I am not a pro boxer neither.

I don't make excuses for myself and I'd expect a "pro" boxer not to do the same either.

What is your body fat %? That's the big deal. Cotto doesn't have much fat at 147 lbs. let alone 143lbs. That's a huge deal. David Reid had 4% body fat and was killing himself to make weight at 154 then he ran into Tito and there went his career...think about the damage that can be done by sacrificing so much at the scales.

You should check out the asinine claims some of the Cotto fans are making in the other thread. I swear they just think Cotto sucks and cant beat Pacquiao.

Now t the topic. the point is that WITF they want Cotto to lose 3 more pounds at teh weight in, if he will still make 155 fight night? Can you explain me that one?

Ofcourse they tested teh waters with oscar, they know killing fighters at the scales wins you fights!!!!!!

              bad-boy:
If he can beat WWs at his best, then dont fight them.

Fight the 140 lbs guys. he still have Bradley, he can make Valero come up to 140,ect,ect,ect.
Again....Lets say Cotto as you say will maybe come in at 157 or so. From 147 thats 10lbs

Manny at 140 w/hatton came in at 149 ...well thats 9lbs

Fight night w/cottoVSpac at 143 catchweight.
              Manny comes in 149-150 that= 6lbs
Cotto comes in 153 from 143= thats the 10 or so lbs YOU gave him

I dont think he will put up 10lbs from 143 personally maybe 7-8lbs
if so that would leave the weight issue between the two almost the same w/ the the slight edge of weight to Cotto.

Some say NO to a split weight agreement....
My biggest question is if Cotto is strong and Pac dont have a chance a 147,and Pac is too small....Has never fought someone as big and strong a Cotto ...
Then WTF is the BIGissue with Cotto coming down...what 3 lbs below the WW limit?
Do you HONESTLY think that 3lbs is gonna make a difference ?
Before you answer you must know the only reason that they want a SPLIT weight agreement{catchweight} is so the Bigger Stronger Cotto...Dont baloon back up to a middleweight. Its to keep it within the fairness range.

SO....If Cotto wants to have the weight edge, then he will have to put on an ass of weight before fight night and thats not good... So he better be in shape.
Stop your bitching...look forward to the fight
3 pounds DO make a difference, hard to imagine from behind your computer, I dont think Cotto just cares about the money, he actually wants to win this fight, we've seen Cotto dehydrated in the past not been a shadow of himself, is that why they're pushing the 3 lbs? OBVIOUSLY. Does Cotto need Manny???? NO, he's a house hold name and have nothing but options ahead.

Cotto should say 147 or no go. Pac got good opponents at 140 to fight. If he wants a WW belt, he should let the champ weigh in regularly. **** a catchweight. If Pac's team ain't comfortable wit the size difference, lay off the WW's and kick ass at 140.

Why should it be at 143. Do you want another drained oscar? Pacman is......you know what, i was going to ***** about 143, hell with that. If pacman wants 143 or 142, let's bring it because after cotto tears that butt everyone is still going to complain about cotto beating a "smaller" fighter. It's a no win situation. Hurt him bad cotto !

You said it best....you are not a professional boxer. Trust me it drains you. My brother boxes and he looked good at one weight and drained at 2lbs lighter....it matters. I lost 12 lbs in the 30 days and it doesn't bother me but for boxers it's different....look at oscar vs pacman. You really think the oscar that fought floyd would've lost to pacman.......pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
