duran took delight punishing ray leonard in their 1st fight...

but it seems to me the fight he really enjoyed punishing his foe was the davey moore fight... it seemed to me like he was like ****in the miss universe that night... he was obviously enjoying every minute of it...

tony ayala deserves a shout about being mean too IMO...

as for the more recent fighters that come to my mind are erik morales & vic darchinyan...

I don't think he avoided Pryor at all. Aaron simply didn't bring enough to the table. I've always held a firm belief Pryor may haver been able to force this fight had he moved up and beat a couple of decent opponents ina semi impresive fashion. Why he chose not to, I have no idea. But can't see how this can be called ducking or even avoiding under the circumstances.

Why do you think Pryor turned down half a million to fight Leonard, when Pryor had made like $40,000 a year earlier to win the title, and had just missed out on $250,000 when his unification bout with Mamby had fallen apart?

Meant to ask you about this earlier. When did Ray make this offer, I was never aware of it before now?

Open and up in the air. That was he first thing I noticed about him.

Emile Griffith was probably one of the nicest guys to ever set foot in the ring, but his beating and subequent killing of Benny Paret was one of the coldest things I've ever seen take place between the ropes.

I read about it in a Sports Illustrated Article entitled "The Champion of Confusion". You can find it on a google search if you want.

It talks about his personal and professional problems and how some of the big fights fell through. He ended up getting shot by his wife which messed up a unification bout with Mamby, wasn't happy with $500k for a SRL fight, managerial issues screwed up a Duran bout. His manager also got arrested for embezzlement which didn't help his career.
