You have to capatilize on the chances your given in this brutal sport....If Cotto beats Pac(which is not a gimmie) He will hold all the bargaining chips and have boxers that he would other wise have to chase...coming directly to him and meeting his demands to fight.

Cotto stands to make a lot of money out of this fight....I know I'm not getting any of it so it shouldn't matter to me and it doesn't but...To not take into account the financial implications is silly...since the people that are actually getting punched in the face...care a lot about how much they get paid.

Cotto vs Pac is the obvious best move for Cotto...Financialy and Legacy wise...He may not get much credit for beating a little guy...But this fight will enable him to make bigger fights in the future with names that would elude him if he had not beat the p4p champ...and things happen on his terms money wise.

I'm all about competitive matchups, and this is going to be a bout where either Cotto kills himself to go down to a catchweight, or Manny will be up against a much stronger, heavier Cotto. Either way, somebody is going to be at a handicap.

Its definitely not unfair for Cotto...i never said it was. A few 2-3lbs never hurt anyone and it especially wont affect a 28 year old Cotto.

I agree it's not our position as fans to be all in a boxers pockets worried about what there getting paid...but the reality of the situation is...that a boxer will usualy go for whatever opponent is more lucrative financialy.

Also you have to take into account the leverage a win over Manny Pacquiao would bring to the braganing table in future fights...

Not even just at the table...but bringing fighters like Mayweather Mosley and other big names to the table.

If Cotto beats Manny everybody will want to fight him.
