And Pacquiao has gotten into a trend of where he is only fighting twice a year. He held the 3 times a year standard before he became the P4P king. And are the rest of his fights going to be on PPV? I'll bet a lot of casual fans would tune in to one of his fights if he fought on regular HBO for once. I think a fight between Pacquiao and Victor Ortiz would be big if they marketed it the right way. I wonder why Arum doesn't want to give Humberto Soto a fight with Pacquiao. That was Roach ****ting his pants at the mere thought of Pac having to fight that guy.
Pacquiao’s Choice Should Be a Real "Welterweight" Fight

I am 100% with Cliff Rold, I disagree with all this ****** catch weight. I believe if you cannot beat someone in their weight limit, then look for your business somewhere else, but do not try for a boxer to become weak and being in a mercy for a total destruction.Comment

Nice one! I guess people here just based their assumptions on Pacquiao's performance, forgetting that Pacquiao fought in different weight classes for the past 14 mos.Wow this thread is really making Pacman look like a Pu$$y or something. Let I remind you that Pacquiao's last 4 fights within 14 months were all in different weight classes(none of them were in catch weights).
Juan Manuel Marquez 3-15-08 Jr. Lightweight
David Diaz 6-28-08 Lightweight
Oscar De La Hoya 12-06-08 Welterweight
Ricky Hatton 5-2-09 Jr. Welterweight
So if he wants his next fight at a catch weight where he is comfortable in (ala 142-143) why can't he get his way one time.
The catchweight he had with Oscar was the only fight he had agreed to have a catchweight...and that was at Welterweight and therefore legitimate not only because Oscar agreed with it, but it was a new fighting weight for Pacquiao...considering that he jumped two weight classes
And now, if Pacquiao asks for a catchweight, he will be considered somewhat a "*****"?Comment

Then Cotto might as well reject Pacquiao's offer. Pacquiao still has several money options anyway.
Remember, he is the cash cow, not Cotto.

really?
while you are it busy sucking down cotto's ****, i'll ask to Pac to do you a favor and shove his **** through your ****** li'l ass for double pleasure.
might make you change your mind. *******!Comment

crold i wanna know how you would advise team pacquiao to level the playing field because cotto is way too big for pac.Cotto hasn't weighed 145 at welter ever. Repeating it over and over won't make that true. And how is weighing in at no more than the division you're fighting in asking for an advantage? If a pound or two is no big deal, why not let Cotto (or Mosley) weigh in wherever he wants no larger than the division limit. The only advantage in a catchweight would be the hope the extra pound or two weakens the larger man. It's not like Cotto still won't come in the ring as a Jr. Middle.
ortiz is too green. pac would ruin him.And Pacquiao has gotten into a trend of where he is only fighting twice a year. He held the 3 times a year standard before he became the P4P king. And are the rest of his fights going to be on PPV? I'll bet a lot of casual fans would tune in to one of his fights if he fought on regular HBO for once. That was Roach ****ting his pants at the mere thought of Pac having to fight that guy.
arum has been wanting to give soto a shot at pac, and pac and roach are not averse to a fight with soto. I dunno where u get the idea that roach doesn't like a fight between pac and soto. they don't call pac the mexicutioner for nothing.
but on the flipside, cotto doesn't have to fight pac at a catchweight if he doesn't want to. cotto can flip off team pac and fight someone else. you can't blame pac for making cotto sign the contract because its cotto's decision and its cotto's fault if he loses.
pac never belonged to the WW division in the first place. the dlh fight was a catchweight itself.
no way. if pac fights cotto and mosley at 147 lbs he gets destroyed. its suicide. its a mismatch. its as bad as pbf fighting jmm.But i agree that if he does decide to want to fight a welterweight he should fight them at 147 instead of a catchweight.
I agree. they should say fight me at 147 lbs or gtfo. too bad they are greedy bastards and have no one to blame but themselves if they sign the contract for a catchweight.I personally think these welterweights should be concerned on fighting other welterweights instead of trying to pick on the smaller guy because of what he brings to the table...but what can you do..
cotto wants the fight as well. cotto was threatening to leave Top Rank if he didn't get the pac fight.
well, there's glory and then there's suicide. fighting mosley and cotto at 147 lbs is suicide.pac wants the glory
then cotto should reject team pac's offer and fight them.cotto said theres other fights,
that's what cotto should say, but he's too greedy and will make the catchweight. cotto will have no one but himself to blame if he loses to pac.147 or go back to the lightweights pac
cotto ain't an easy fight, even at a catchweight. that's idiot talk.these pac nuthuggerS and pac himself feel they are entitled to easy fights
cotto/pac comes from the demented mind of bob arum. pac and roach weren't pursuing anybody. if anything cotto and mosley were begging pac for a fight.and handicapping after theyre the ones pursuing these fights in the first place !!!!!!!
I agree! I mean seriously! I don't know how these *******s can say cotto (basically a middleweight on fight night) doesn't have a huge size advantage over pac (basically a welterweight on fight night). with out a catchweight this fight is a total mismatch.THE gall of these *******s,
I'm seriously! if cotto signs to fight a catchweight then STFU and stop complaining and making excuses.you dont want to be a man pac go back to 130 and STFU!!!!!
that's what I'm talking about. cotto don't need to sign a catchweight deal. he can walk away from the fight. but if he doesn't they he's the boy and pac's the daddy.YOU AINT ALL THAT BOyyyyyyyyyy
so what, pac's been KOed and has been in wars. I guess pac doesn't deserve to fight undefeated fighters lol. sounds like a pbf argument to duck mosley.AND ANOTHER THING YOU NOTICE AFTER JMM PAC HASNT FACED A SINGLE FIGHTER THAT HASNT BEEN PREVIOUSLY KOD OR SERIOUSLY DAMAGED
you must be a calz fan because calz is undefeated and has never been KOed or damaged.I SURE DO BUT THESE JERKS JUST TURN A BLIND EYE TO THAT!Comment

You've got it the wrong way round. It's the Pac fanboys who don't seem to think Pac can beat Cotto unless Cotto comes in weight drained. Otherwise they would want Pac to fight a 100% version of Cotto, and not a weight drained Cotto. It's obviously in Pac's interests to do so, from a legacy point of view. The only possible reason for asking Cotto to come in lighter than 147 is in the hope that he'll come in weight drained. There is no other possible reason.
The real Pac fans want Pac to fight Cotto at 147, or to fight a Jnr Welterweight, because they realise that is what will benefit his legacy and gain everyone's respect.Last edited by Dave Rado; 06-17-2009, 12:11 AM.Comment

It was Pac who asked Arum to make this fight, not Cotto. If Pac doesn't think he can beat Welterweights unless they come in weight drained, he should clear out his own division and forget about fighting Welterweights. He has just won a lineal and Ring title in the Jnr Welterweight division, and a true champion would defend his title against the best fighters in his division.Comment

Catchweight Pacquiao Stay At Jr Welter
Has boxing come down to this where Manny has to rob ppl of there weight in order to win a fight. If Cotto or Mosley are the Welterweight champions and Manny wants to fight them for the Welterweight title then Manny should be required to fight at a limit of 147. I'm so tired of Top Rank doing this marketing ploy like Manny is something special and he clearly is not. You idiots have forgotten that Top Rank is the creator of Butterbean. So called King of the 4 rounders! That's what they do market to fools who will buy that junk. I'm sorry but Manny is the same product of that marketing tool. Stop with all of that cash cow and Manny decides what weight a fighter should come in. Is this truly boxing. I'm so sick and tired of all of this bull****. Manny is a phoney and when he fights Floyd or Mosley it will be proven.

You are right, Arum or Roach never wanted Manny to fight Soto because he knew that Soto would beat the **** out of Manny! See Manny couldn't drain him from his weight. It would be a fair fight. Believe me Manny is a fraud and he will be exposed and everyone will see it.And Pacquiao has gotten into a trend of where he is only fighting twice a year. He held the 3 times a year standard before he became the P4P king. And are the rest of his fights going to be on PPV?
