      • This thread sucks because their are many "idiots" here disguising themselves as a knowledgable boxing fans. If Cotto has brains and balls, he'll fight Pacquiao on any weight. Let's not fool ourselves, the burden of proof is on Cotto if he want's the fight to take place. If Pacquiao beats Cotto in 143 or 147 their still be pac-haters out their that will discredit his win. BE REAL PEOPLE!!!

If Pacquiao fights Cotto at '47 and wins, he's a great fighter, but Roach doesn't want that. If Pacquiao fights Cotto at '45 and wins, he's a great fighter, but Roach doesn't want that. Cotto says, from '45-'47 he's ready to go. If you fight a guy who walks around at 180, who openly says that he can't make 143 and go into a fight feeling well, it takes away from the victory should Pacquiao win.

The point is to stop talking bigger fighters into becoming skeletons before fights. It takes away from a fighters legacy when issues like this come up. Stop calling out a giant Cotto who probably shouldn't even be fighting at '47 and a 37 yr old Mosley that they told '44 and the fight can happen and then of course, back out when it came down to it. If anybody is an idiot, it's Roach. Should Cotto lose to Pac at '43 or Mosley lose at whatever goofy weight Roach wants, there's always going to be a question mark, point blank.

Really though, Pac-Mosley at '44.... We'll witness Pac reach the rafters.

              • Just look at how bad Cotto looked when he last fought at 140. At the weigh in against Malignaggi, Cotto looked like a concentration camp survivor and it's probably the reason that Paulie had so much success in that fight while Hatton was able to steamroll PM at 140.

If Pac fights and beats Cotto at anything less then 147 then he won't get proper credit and he can't be considered a legitimate WW champion IMO. I think Pac will beat Cotto (though I will be rooting for MC) even at 147 and making MC dehydrate himself for the fight only makes Pac and his team look like puta's!

                • if fights at 145, then it can't be for the 147 lb belt...if manny wants the best cotto on fight night it should be at 147, the extra two pounds won't make much difference, it's skills that win fights, not weight

                  • Nice article. Good job on research. One very important thing is missing though. My question is: What happened to all this great fighters after they retired? The point is... Roach is protecting Pacquiao. If its upto Paquiao, he will fight Cotto at 147. Roach is the living proof of the dangers of boxing to a boxer's health. He is struggling with it now. The great Ali is the greatest example. Manny started at 108 lbs. It has to end somewhere, somehow...
Pacman is not calling out Cotto. Cotto called him out. He just answered it. For now, he is after the money. Not after any belt or greatness. If somehow he wins convincingly and Roach feels he could fight at 147 without hurting himself, maybe he will go on to build his greatness.
Regardless of what happens.. for me Paquiao is an all time great.
