If manny fought De La Hoya at 147, then he should fight Cotto at 147! No excuses! Cotto is champ at 147. If manny doesn't want that then too bad, fight a 140 pounder!

Pacquiao’s Choice Should Be a Real "Welterweight" Fight

These WelterWeights are a joke; they must be licking their chops that a naturally smaller man can bring so much money to the table, they're thinking they can make a boatload of money with a lot less risk.
Now they want Pacman to take all the risks; so that they can cash in on a big fight. There's nothing admirable about that. Freddie Roach is absolutely right to try to protect his fighter, there's a reason why there are weight divisions.
I mean, which is more dangerous getting punched by a way bigger fighter or showing up a little dehydrated and fighting a way smaller man.

The author misses the point. MP does not have to agree with your suggestion for him to be judge by History accordingly. Why take a knife to a gunfight when you're allowed to bring a gun anyway? I don't see the point you bitchin that he should fight at 147. Did you hear him complaining to ODLH when he was the one dictating terms? He has earned his spot, an no amount of prodding from hecklers like you , who obviously just want him to lose, can make him do what he or his team thinks its best for him. you are obviously not the one paying him the $$$ neither will you care what happens to him if he loses. your just one dumb shmuck hoping for him to lose. and why do you keep defining true WWs at 147? last i know that ww is a range, not at the absolute upper limit of 147.
for immortality , like most comments here say, bull****, he has already made his mark in history. an no matter how tall his accomplishments are ( say after beating cotto), am sure you come up with something to still question as to how he compares to the other ATGs, making excuses that he wasn't as great.
give the man some respect.

I agree... If Manny wants to play with the big boys he needs to fight at 147 if not sit in a corner and shut up. He's great but wanting ANOTHER big guy to move down is old news. He already did that.........
No one wants to see a 147+ pound guy come in weight drained again. The Oscar De La Hoya fight was just down right pitiful. Only the ******ed biased Pac fans would want to see that again. I want to see a REAL FIGHT... Either Pac and Mosley/Cotto/Mayweather at 147 or Pac and JMM at 135 while Mayweather, Cotto and Mosley make fights amongst each other.
I like Pac but any of the names at 147 would murder his little self. So in all he shouldn't even consider it. He needs to rematch JMM and forget about the 147 pounders UNLESS he wants to move up yet again. IMO if he DID do that and won he could consider himself one the TOP 5 all time greats. But only if it was at 147.
Anyway it will come down to the money anyway....... so who cares.

And abolutely Freddie will protect his fighter, but his fighter shouldn't call out Cotto if his not going to fight Cotto at his weight. That's what not "admirable' about a boxer.
What will be the next condition if Cotto doesn't what to fight under 146, Okay i'll fight you but if you knock me down it won't count???
Come on lets get real here.
If a fighter calls you out and you are the the p4p best you can call all the shot's and put your conditions becasue Pacquiao has earned that right, but if you call somebody out you have to back it up by fighting the guy with out asking him to be what his not.
And in term of what's more dangerous, Pacman in not "a way smaller guy" than Cotto.
