I disagree. The Heavyweight division is AS STRONG IN THE USA AS IT ALWAYS WAS.

But in previous eras they have never been exposed to East-Europeans. It was mainly an US-internal contest. Being world champion in the 50ies-70ies is much inferior to being world champion now...

do u acctually watch boxing or do u just read the outcome and make your assesment from that? no way anyone can think todays american HWs are as good as the ones from the past.

there were eastern europeans in the olympics back then. still the likes of foreman, ali and frazier beat their ass and all won gold. read up on where their oponents were from.. the americans ruled the amateurs (europeans involved) and then went on to rule the pros the same way.

today eastern europeans have taken over cuz the americans fell of. the fighters dont have heart or will and it shows in their physiques aswell as their skills. eastern europeans now rule HW boxing, amateur and pro over americans. just like americans did over europeans back in the day.

i dont know weather wlad and vitali are better than the old time europeans, but the americans sure as hell are a lot worse. denying it just proves u are biased.

Wlad's right, the Heavyweight Division is not dead. Not from a global standpoint anyway.

But here in America it may as well be because we don't have one single standout who appeals to a mainstream audience.

We've always needed that through history, dating all the way back to Jack Johnson (though most of America rooted against him), to Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Jack Dempsey, Rocky Marciano, the list goes on and on.

And without said figure, it may as well be dead ; because nobody is paying any attention.

The only hatred I have seen in this thread came from a fellow Eastern European.

I laugh at the ignorant inferior Americans who complain about the heavyweight division. They're jealous and hate the fact that Eastern Europeans are dominating.

All of the top American heavyweights have been defeated by superior Eastern European heavyweights.

If you were to constantly bash Holyfield or Lewis like people go after the Klitschkos, you'd be called a white supremacist. Yet people constantly bash the Klitschkos, partly because they are white and partly because they're from Eastern Europe, and somehow it's acceptable.

If the Klitschkos were American and black, they'd be "A" level celebrities and boxing superstars. And because the media would hype them, all the adolescent boxing fans would be raving on about how "exciting" they are.

I have seen plenty of people bash every boxer on this board but that doesn't translate to hatred towards a specific race or nationality. No one can read minds or predicts motives on an internet message board. The most hated boxer on this forum is Floyd Mayweather, wouldn't it be foolish of me to assume it is because he is a Black American?
