The knock out came completely out the blue I had Sylvia way ahead up to that point.

it was no more than a year or so ago that Sylvia fought Fedor. if he's not worthy then why was that fight even a main event? most MMA fans i know didnt think he would beat Fedor but i don't think any of them would think Ray Mercer would knock him out.

Ray freakin Mercer. dude is two years shy of being half a century old. AND it wasn't even a boxing match, it was MMA rules.

First off let me say I like MMA very much and watch it when I get a chance but........

Having an ex WWF star as the heavyweight champion and now letting a 50 year old former boxer knock out a top fighter in Silva (don't tell me he's trash now because it was not to long ago this guy was still considered a contender in the HW division).

            It looks bad for MMA.

I will say this, a boxer will always have a punchers chance in the octagon, an MMA fighter will have no chance in the ring.

nonsense. you can't defend Sylvia. you just can't. Ray Mercer is old. a little too old to be considered by any current fighter in UFC's roster. but heres Sylvia, thinking he can score one for MMA hopefuls. and i don't care if he's a bum now, you just don't go from being a champ in your sport, to getting knocked out by an old retired boxer in less than 2 yrs time. thats embarassing.

and someone please tell Nick Diaz that Roy Jones would split his face wide open with one punch. funny thing is, i think that guy wouldn't mind.

Sylvia was also dominated by a 45 year old former olympic wrestler not too long ago.

It doesnt speak of how embarassing it is to the sport. It speaks of how embarassing it is for Sylvia.

Well I wouldn't say he's trash but I didn't think he was that great of a fighter to begin with no matter how high he ranked.

And I don't think former MMA veteran Jens Pulver is surprised by the result:
