      Rather obviously.

The problem is that most boxers have no clue how to defend takedowns/submissions.

If a boxer went into MMA with the intention of becoming a complete MMA fighter, I'd give him a great chance of succeeding due to boxers having superior striking compared to any regular MMA fighter.

Kermit Cintron for example could beat most fighters in MMA due to his extensive wrestling background.

There is however no point for a boxer to turn into MMA until they are washed up and old, since there's much more money in boxing which is actually why Sylvia tried his hand at boxing in the first place. He obviously failed, miserably.

Sylvia was made to order for a good boxer, because he's a slow plodding type which gives the boxer time to gauge his opponent. What Kimbo did was mug him right off the bat.

Smothering the boxer is a good strategy for an MMA guy. But you've gotta be quick and not walk-in foolishly to be able to smother the boxer's punches.

Sylvia did the opposite, he likes to gauge and he's slow and Moorer capitalized on it

And before you start saying that's some nobody boxer that's former NABF light heavyweight champion Art Jimmerson. His pro boxing record at the time was 35wins 5losses.
Big deal, Gracie was the greatest MMA fighter of all time. Are you saying that all grapplers can fight like him? Doesn't mean that happens in every fight. A more aggressive boxer could have easily nailed him coming in. That guy didn't even throw one punch so how does that prove anything?

              lolololol

Good job Ray, I thought Sylvia would probably take him down and submit. I didn't expect to be reading that Merciless knocked him the fcuk out in 9 seconds when I logged on.

Because there wasn't any legit Heavyweights in in his division except Jeff Monson and all Timmeh did with him was sit on him.

All the rest of the division roster was blown up light heavyweights and the remnants of the former UFC.

[QUOTE=TheGreatA;5488170]It's not like Kimbo beat Mercer by boxing. He took Mercer down and choked him out.

Basically what any MMA fighter with a brain would do.

Kimbo "destroyed" a near 50 year old bar brawler Tank Abbott,

Tank Abbot was no where near 50 and still isn't.

Sure but he was still 43 years old and had only won once in his last 9 fights when he fought Kimbo.

Hardly what I'd call a "successful" MMA fighter.

MMGay is not on the level of boxing. That's all there is to it. Who cares if a world class boxer would make it in the mmgay or not. Why would they want to? The only people worried about that are fan boys obsessed with imaginary street fights. Bottom line is boxers are paid 50x the money and mmgay fans like to watch semi nude men "grapple" with each other.
