I'm not sure why Floyd gets so much Flack about not accepting that fight with Margarito... If you are Floyd why and the hell are you going to accept that fight when you can also possibly get fights with: De La Hoya, Mosley, The Lineal Welterweight champ Baldomir, or even considering Cory Spinks... Margarito would be absolutely last on that list at that time

My point isn't about him not accepting it, but a simple point that calling out a fighter doesn't mean you're going to get the fight.

Your are correct it does not guarentee a fight but it gets the ball rolling in the right direction. Perfect Example Marquez calling out Floyd Mayweather.

The post fight interview lets us know what direction the winner wants to go. He can either go on to a higher division, or stay in the same division and clean up.

That wont happen because Marquez and judah and baldomir are all better draws than Cotto. No one knows Cotto. he doesn't bring any money, he dont have any skills. Cotto has stated that he would love Mayweather fight many times. His actions by taking on the best 147 has to offer is as clear an indicator of what direction he wants to go as any.

Let me flip the script for a second here. What is more appealing to you, as a boxing fan.....Cotto being respectful, yet taking on the best at 147 time and again? Or Floyd saying he'll fight anybody, yet we're still waiting for that to happen after more than 3 years? As a fan of the SPORT, I'll take hat Cotto does over what Floyd does any day.

You have to dump the WBO if you want to be ranked by the other sanctioning bodies.
