(a) That wouldn't make him The Ring champion because The Ring doesn't currently rate Williams at Welterweight.

(b) Williams would move back down tomorrow if he could get a fight but Mosley has made it crystal clear that he will never fight Williams because "he's too tall". No point wasting your energy hoping for that fight to happen, you may as well hope that pigs will fly. Cotto-Mosley II on the other hand is in the realms of the possible.

But I know for a fact that if he schedules a fight at that weight that Ring will automatically insert him at #2, and that's why I made that post. If Mosley and Williams schedule a fight it will be for all the marbles. Why do you think that Margarito-Mosley was not for the Ring title? Now Cotto-Mosley 2 would crown a Ring champ as well. Two reasons: Mosley has unfinished business with Cotto, and Margarito had unfinished business with Williams. But that was a #1 vs. #3 match-up, which is always discretionary and which rarely leads to a new Ring champion in practice when the title is vacant; and Williams would not re-appear in The Ring's rankings unless he beats someone at 147 - that's their policy, whether you like it or not.

While I agree he should fight Jnr Welterweights if he can't fight at 147, your argument that just because he's P4P #1, a former Jnr Flyweight should be able to fight at any weight is ridiculous. If you take that logic to its logical conclusion you may as well ask him to fight Vitali Klitschko. Every fighter has a maximum peak weight, above which they lose their effectiveness, and Pacquiao's just happens to be Jnr Welterweight.

He fought a natural 154 pounder at 147: the weight was effectively a catchweight between DLH's weight (154) and Pac's weight at the time (135). That is very different indeed from fighting a natural Welterweight at 147. In addition, he only weighed in at 142 against DLH, not at 147. If you didn't know all that you're extremely ignorant. If you did know all that and chose to ignore it, you're an idiotic hater.

I've heard some people defending Pacquiao on this by saying that Mosley is the one whoring himself for this fight and it makes sense really. But Manny puts himself in this position by not cleaning out the weight divisions he campaigns in. If you want my opinion, he's leaped over more worthy opponents than RJJ and Floyd combined while moving through the weight classes. Now he's more exciting than those two and that's why I'm a fan. But I can't think of one division he's cleaned out since he took care of business against the big Mexican three. Look at all the opponents that could've provided him with exciting and competitive fights from 130-140. Campell, Casamayor, J. Diaz, Soto, Valero, Alvarado, Ortiz, D. Alexander, and Linares come off the top of my head. I figure he can probably already beat Urbano Antillon because he worked him over in sparring but the other guys I just mentioned I think would give him a good fight. I would make Pacquiao the favorite over those guys but saying he can beat them and Manny doing it is two different things. I miss the days when Arguello and Duran fought. Those guys left no loose ends hardly.

2) pac officially weighed 138 lbs against hatton just a few weeks ago. when was the last time cotto/mosley/pbf officially weighed 138 lbs???
