Barrera was in really good shape, and his boxing mind was at it's peak. But he was still slowed down and ultimately past his physical best. I think he can beat JMM in his prime. It'd be very close either way though.
Was Barrera out of his prime when he fought Marquez?

The sad thing is too, is that Khan won't even give Barrera a rematch. I don't know if Barrera could do any better though. One thing is for sure though, is that Khan is another piece of garbage in Frank Warren's stable that is all hype and no substance similar to Enzo Mac.Comment

mab could fight for jmm's vacant belts. then he'll get a title in a 4th weight division and then he'll get another payday and retire for good.Comment

I was lucky enough to get 1st row Ringside seats to that fight. JMM won a close decision. I recall the knockdown that wasn't counted. Maybe that would have changed the fight completely. It was a good close fight that Barrera pre Pacman would have won.Comment

And the fact his brain was popping out and blood was rolling into his eyes, I say even a shot Barrera would have beaten Khan that night if none of the above had happened. It was a sick pay off event, it was not a good win for Khan because he didn't actually win. He won off a head butt where a guys brain was popping out... That is so amazing!!!Comment

MAB was past his prime. He did knock down JMM & went the distance. What would have happend if MAB was in his prime?
Not saying MAB would automatically win but MAB was past it & marquez wasnt.Comment

But I do think that version of Barrera that JMM fought is very underrated though to me. It seemed like he had his combination punching abliltity together along with his piston left jab. I don't use that as a measuring stick to JMM's fight with Mayweather that much, because I think that version of MAB would handle a lot of guys on Floyd's record. Marquez may have underestimated him a little too. You never know.Last edited by Iceta; 06-06-2009, 08:38 PM.Comment
