Prime Tua would murder Wlad.

Difficult to say, its certainly easy to imagine Wlad staying on the outside, jabbing & clinching with the occasional right hand to take a lopsided decision. Most people that Tua fought outboxed him for a while (if they didn't get knocked out in the first). However, pretty much universally his pressure caught up to them at some point and he checked the chin, the fight hinging on what happened next. Even in the Lewis fight where he was thoroughly outboxed he managed to catch Lewis with quite a few big punches over the course of the fight. It is clear Wlad cannot take punches well so it seems perfectly reasonable to me to assume that Tua would have a very real chance of knocking him out, particularly if we're talking of the younger more mobile pre-Lewis version of Tua.Comment

If that was the case he must not have fought anyone with reasonable skills, including the likes of Lewis, Ibeabuchi and a young Rahman, because in 53 fights he never came close to being destroyed.Comment

The tallest opponent Tua ever KOed was 6'4'' (except for Calvin Jones who is a 20-19 bum). It was Dannell Nicholson who is 6'4'', is less reachy than Wlad and 10-20 lbs lighter than Wlad.
It took Tua 6 rounds. And Nicholson is a nobody AND A CHINACHIN (17 KOs in 19 losses).
Wlad would be Tua's TALLEST opponent while Tua would be Wlad's SMALLEST opponent.
Case closed.
It's the same story as with Tyson. Tyson merely KOed smaller opponents (max 6'3'') or bums (the only exception being Lou Savarese).
Tua and Tyson would have not much chance against Wlad.
Let's also not forget that Tua never won a world heavyweight title.Last edited by knn; 06-06-2009, 06:21 PM.Comment

This is terrible logic. You could use this kind of argument to say nobody could beat Valuev. Who did he not knock out who was taller than 6'4"? Lewis? true, but he certainly did catch him with some big punches. The tallest opponent Tua ever KOed was 6'4'' (except for Calvin Jones who is a 20-19 bum). End of story.

Of course I'm not saying Tua couldn't be outboxed by tall rangy fighters, he was outboxed many times and I don't doubt Wlad could do the same. But I disagree that somebody like Wlad could go 12 rounds without catching at least a few of those weighty punches. How would he stand up to them? In my opinion not so well.Comment
