some massively talented boxers take their gifts for granted...

roberto duran & james toney, like benitez were really undisciplined @ times...

Radar was slicker than PBF. IMO he gave Leonard more trouble than PBF would.. Made Ray look slow. But in terms of overall skill, Mayweather takes. Benitez went into defensive shells for too long, when an opponent was offensive. Mayweather is better at countering while the other guy tries to get off.

And one of the biggest things here is work ethic. Mayweather is a gym rat. He trains constantly. Benitez was a young champion, and a little immature. Known for his bad training habits and lack of motivation. I think Benitez could have been much greater if he was more focused, but as it stands, Mayweather is the better fighter.

Benetiz is proven 140 on up. Floyd is from 135 and down.

I don't think Benitez would have beaten the Oscar that Floyd faced. I know I'll get **** for that, but at 154 he was his worst in terms of training and discipline, and Oscar threw way too much for Radar... Against busy fighters like Hearns and Leonard it was the same thing: he got too defensive. He gave Leonard fits sometimes but for the most part that was because of his D. I think he would have lost a decision to that version of Oscar.

I’m sorry but I “respectfully” disagree, Oscar had notorious issues with fighters that possessed movement (head/foot) and if he struggled with the likes of Sweet pea one of which was passed his prime when they met then Benitez would have been a walking nightmare.

              Peace.

Benitez was actually probably at his best at 154 pounds, training-wise. He had matured a bit and had long training camps for Duran and Hope.

Duran was busy, Hope was busy too, but they were both easily beaten and actually outlanded by Benitez at the weight. Hearns posed more problems to Benitez than just being busy. It was about the only time Hearns boxed cautiously in order to win on points. Usually he went for the KO early. It's difficult to see anyone outpointing Hearns, including Mayweather.

Benitez beats the aging inactive De La Hoya Mayweather fought in my opinion.
