    And there it is.

Joe hid in Wales behind the weakest strap in the weakest division.

Calzhage understood his limitations...too bad his nuttriders don't.

Chad Dawson will now have FOUR fights in a row against 40 year olds, but the same people who were so hard on Calzaghe are not saying anything - in fact they are making excuses for Dawson.

The age 26 Dawson dropped TWO titles to avoid mandatories with prime opponents (Adrian Diaconu and Tavoris Cloud) in order to fight 40 year olds. As well, he avoided Diaconu in June 2007 and fought clubfighter Jesus Ruiz, and again avoided him early in 2008 to take the first fight with Johnson.

Calzaghe was old himself, he had been an amateur in the late 80s and pro since the early 90s and now is retired, while Dawson is in his 20s.

Why did Calzaghe take so much criticism, while Dawson gets away with it? I'm sure for pointing this out, I will receive a lot of criticism myself - but no one said much about those like bsrizpac who expressed their extreme displeasure with Calzaghe day after day in this forum .

      Is there a double standard?
The real double standard is the comparisons between a fighter who many on here call an ATG, greatest super middle ever and top 50 fighter of all time, and Chad Dawson, who is an up and coming fighter yet to truly establish what caliber he is.
People criticized Joe because of the level he and his pans put himself on. THe fights he made did not live up to that level.
Dawson is still getting himself established, and is not yet in his prime.

Which is fine. He knew that in order to beat guys like RJJ and BHOP he had to wait until they declined due to the superior opposition they were facing. I have no issue with that. What I do take issue with are his delusional fans.
At least Dawson is making fights people want to see. HIs first fight with Johnson was somewhat controversial, so he vacates his belt so he doesnt have to fight a nobody, and takes the fight that matters most.

You're rewriting history. He was injured, twice. If he hadn't wanted to fight Johnson he wouldn't have signed to fight him. He tried to postpone when he was injured, but Johnson got the chance to fight Roy Jones instead and took it, and who can blame him? Calzaghe has frequently said that that was the lowest point of his entire life, because he thought then that he would never get any big fights when that fight fell through. You're just a hater.

No, I was answering your question. Personally, I don't think age has been a factor in either case, for both Joe and Chad they just happened to be the best fights at the time in view of their personal objectives at the time.

Chad is at least looking for the best possible fights at 26. Who did Joe fight at 26 that made him so great? Chad suffers from a dead division, Joe in '98 had Roy and Toney overseas..

Always cracks me up seeing these kind of comments. You're pissed at Joe showboating in front of a guy that built a career on showboating, and often against opponents who didn't even deserve to be in the same building as him. Now you hate the taste of your own medicine. Hilarious.

                    You are the one fella.

Joe...in his OWN WORDS said "May divorce is too painful"

You claim he was hurt TWICE...so why not face Glen when he healed instead of somebody else???????????????????

I bet if Floyd pulled some whit like that you'd be all over it.

That's odd, because I'm sure I remember Chad recently wishing Joe good luck in retirement and saying how the new king is here. If calling yourself the king isn't claiming to be the best I don't know what is.
