What Dawson did to Tavoris Cloud was a ***** trick.

He made him wait many months for the shot at the title, but then decided to vacate it. He should have vacated months ago, so Cloud could have fought someone else for the vacant belt.

Dawson didn't need to give Tarver an immediate rematch, the contract stated he could have ONE fight before rematching Tarver. Chad should have done the honorable thing and gave Cloud his mandatory shot first, and then rematched Antonio.

This will be four 40 year olds in a row as Dawson's opponents! So many people gave Calzaghe **** for fighting Hopkins and Jones, but Joe himself is age 37, while Dawson is just age 26.

What he should have done this year is fight twice: first, defend against Cloud and THEN rematch Johnson.

But anyway Cloud will easily defeat Woods, and I have a feeling he will have a long reign as IBF champion. Tavoris will have a better career than Dawson, wait and see.

What more important to Cloud, Tunney?...fighting for the title or fighting Dawson?

I think fighting for the title is the most important thing and he is getting that opportunity.

The bottom line is that Dawson-Johnson is the fight that the public most wants to see, not Dawson-Cloud.

We whinge when fighters don't give the public the fights they want and then when they do we claim they are ducking their mandatories.

        Ridiculous.

You're absolutely right about him not having to fight Tarver back-to-back Tunney. As much as I want to see Johnson get his deserved rematch with Chad, Dawson could've fought Cloud first because the clause left the option of him fighting Tarver within his next two fights, so he could make that mandatory defense. Cloud didn't do himself any favors by going MIA after he stopped Gonzalez like that on ESPN. But some of the blame needs to go on Chad too. But now that the Tarver rematch is history and it has come down to two choices, even though Cloud possesses a bigger punch than Johnson, I am happy for Glen getting this payday because he is on his last leg and he was robbed against Chad regardless of what anyone says.

Yes, it's good to see Glen getting a good payday to retire on.

              A few things:

              1. Johnson didn't look shot against Judah I didn't think. I actually thought he looked like he always does... pretty good and relentless.

              2. Dawson clearly needs to rematch Johnson, and after taking care of his forced rematch with Tarver, this was his first chance at it. Not a bad fight.

              3. The Cloud fight died when television stations refused to pick the fight up. I can't imagine a better reason for not fighting someone than having every television station tell you they will not be televising your fight.

                This is all true.

Unfortunately there are some individuals on here with some rather transparent anti-Dawson agendas.

I lost some interest in a Johnson rematch a while ago. Johnson's best days are behind him and this much time between fights only favors Dawson more at this stage. Dawson is stuck in the same situation Pavlik is stuck in. Both are in dried up weight classes with a very short list of possible decent opponents. I'm happy if they can get a fight at all I guess.

Who knows though, maybe the old warrior has one good fight left in him.
