Marco Antonio Barrera at 126: Beat Hamed, Morales, Tapia, etc. and didn't get an ABC belt. I'll take that body of work rather than the mandatory number one contenders the IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO come up with. The fact that Barrera didn't have an ABC belt and multiple people were stripped for fighting him shows how ridiculous these bodies' rankings are, considering he should have been the #1 contender in all of them after beating Naseem Hamed.
Tarver/Johnson at 175: Right after they beat Jones, they both had ABC belts that they surrendered to fight each other for the chance to get The Ring belt, and actually show who the best in the division was. Instead of fighting Gonzalez and Woods, they picked each other, and made a much better fight than the two they would have produced for fighting their mandatories.
I mean, really, the fact that we scold fighters for taking bigger fights instead of fighting their green, unproven, sanctioning body mandatories is a joke that justifies the terrible policies these bodies hold.
