Some other fighters who have done this:

Marco Antonio Barrera at 126: Beat Hamed, Morales, Tapia, etc. and didn't get an ABC belt. I'll take that body of work rather than the mandatory number one contenders the IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO come up with. The fact that Barrera didn't have an ABC belt and multiple people were stripped for fighting him shows how ridiculous these bodies' rankings are, considering he should have been the #1 contender in all of them after beating Naseem Hamed.

Tarver/Johnson at 175: Right after they beat Jones, they both had ABC belts that they surrendered to fight each other for the chance to get The Ring belt, and actually show who the best in the division was. Instead of fighting Gonzalez and Woods, they picked each other, and made a much better fight than the two they would have produced for fighting their mandatories.

I mean, really, the fact that we scold fighters for taking bigger fights instead of fighting their green, unproven, sanctioning body mandatories is a joke that justifies the terrible policies these bodies hold.

The IBF has had some ****ty mandatories like Ray Austin and that guy that was Clottey's mando. But this is one case of where the IBF got it right. I view Tavoris Cloud as a dangerous opponent for the IBF title more than I do a deserving mandatory challenger. The guy is the real deal I think but his handlers need to be kicked in the nuts. Why make a guy sit on the shelf like that after he scored a stoppage over an outclassed, but iron-chinned gatekeeper who had fought names like Roy Jones, Montel Griffin, and Glen Johnson. You need to build off that momentum and Cloud's handlers have done just the opposite and it's a shame.

Another thing too, I've never viewed Adrian Diaconu as some kind of threat to Chad Dawson. That guy is so overrated it's not even funny. He struggled to beat Chris Henry. I saw Henry's fight with Yusaf Mack on ESPN and I remember Henry getting his ass whipped big time. He's the cat that got shot with the taser here recently. But the problem is, he was probably shot before that happened.

HBO approved of Chad Dawson vs Glen Johnson II and Tavoris Cloud being in the undercard most likely against Clinton Woods. But the ***** wanted his shot at the title so he turned that offer down, and of course since Cloud turned that offer down, Dawson would of eventually be stripped.
