Interesting points. My only real worries are that....In the past I have said a Straight shooting counter puncher would be Floyd's Kryptonite Someone like a Prime Forrest.. JMM has what I think is needed in style.. But I worry about him being in a bit too deep .. However he is the only man to besides Morales to stand up to PAC.. So here's to hoping he pulls off the unimaginable.. I would walk on air for few days I am sure..
1.) As you pointed out, Marquez may be in too deep on this one. Personally, I didn't even want to see him go to 135, because everybody there was so much stronger than him, and he would be the smallest guy there.
But he really dominated there with back to back TKO's over the lineal Champ in 'Casa, and the #1 contender in Diaz. So that shows you how much I know.
Still, as amazingly gifted as he is, I find it hard to imagine him having much success around 140.
2.) Knockdowns. I'm positive that Floyd can put Marquez on the deck. Floyd doesn't get much credit for the snap he has in his punches, and I fear that Marquez might hit the deck more than once in this one if he's not extremely careful.
My highest hope is that even if he gets knocked down ; he can still make a go of it, and he won't lose face by losing to Floyd. Similar to the Pacquiao rematch, only with Floyd being the clear winner.Comment

Wlad-Haye will be no where near foty.
It will be a great fight, but it will also be a BLOWOUT, either a Haye or Wlad KO, odds are on Wlad because he's that much bigger.
They don't have good enough chins to be in a FOTYComment

I think there will be some good ebb and flow in Cotto/Clottey. There's just such a disparity on Cotto's complete offensive game, and his pedestrian defense for there not to be.
Both guys are pretty good counter punchers too, I think it will be a tactical war. I doubt it passes Diaz/Marquez cause the styles are totally different, but it'll be a punishing fight.Comment

We're not saying it's even an option.
We're just excited about it and discussing possible strategies.
Same with Cotto/Clottey.
I don't think anybody in their right mind thinks Wlad/Haye is going to be more epic than Marquez/Diaz.Comment

The days of Foreman vs Lyle heavyweight wars are gone.Comment

As for Wlad/Haye, the most likely outcome is a Wlad KO. Which is usually the case.
But if I were Haye, I would stay on the outside, and let Wlad dictate the pace. From there, I'd try to land my right hand as often, and as hard as I could, over Wlad's jab consistently.
From there, I don't know. Go in for the finish with guns blazing if he gets him hurt, but I doubt that'll happen. Just land the right, and avoid the jab, and win the rounds.
The last thing 'd do would be going to war with Wlad early, like some people are expecting. That's suicide if you ask me.Comment

Man, this thread is really getting me nostalgic for the old NSB days.
There's been nothing but solid discussion in here, and great points made from everybody who's debated or stated opinion.
Why can't every thread be like that?Comment
