I think he would be competitive at the weight if he chooses to fight there.

But he already campaigned/ fought at the welterweight division, against dela Hoya. Even the HBO announcers said that the fight was at welterweight. So he should be rated, right?

Manny Pacquiao can't be rated as WW because he has never fought in that divison, and the time he did fight at that weight, it was a catchweight with Oscar Del Hoya. Which I don't think is sufficient enough to rate him with all the other top WW's.

1 fight does not equal "campaigning at WW". please get this to your brain.

pac's last fight is at 140. he's the 140 champion.

              can't rank him at 147.

i think he can be competitive with most and might even beat some of the top guys at 147 but he's not a welterweight.

pac can still make 135 or even 130 if he really tried.

the oscar fight wasn't a catchweight.

                it was at 147.

pacquiao moved up 2 divisions from 135 and oscar moved down 1 from 154.

that said 1 fight at 147 against a guy who isn't ranked at 147 does not get you ranked there.

True and Floyd weighs the same on the night ,, the true WWs of today weigh 160+ on the night they actually fight ,,,, this big difference between fight weight is why the smaller guys want catchweights , by bringing the big guys down to meet weigh-in weight it forces them to train the entire camp that bit lighter and smaller all the way through , it doesnt allow them to blow up like they normally do , boxing is really about a fair fight , manipulating the 36 hr weigh today is an art form for some and it can undermine a fair fight in such a way the guy coming up in weight class is big time handicapped.

Boxing classes were not ment so that fighters step in the ring divisions above the class they weighed 36 hrs ago like WWs were ment to be at WW 147 or less , it was never ment that WWs fight at 160 like today , it really doesnt matter when both are the same size as it works out equal , it matters a great deal when a little guy is going up and then he is handicapped two fold .

I dont like the fact that a big fighter will call out a little guy and expect him to just except the weight handicap ,,,,,,, if its the little guy doing the calling out he should go to the class limit and accept he will be giving weight away on the night , but these big fighters making a lot of noise about fighting little guys , its like me with a V8 calling out the 6s , and in boxing it just gets lost in the hype of it all .

wrong my pink friend. it was a catchweight fight because pac did not move up to 154 lbs.

you are correct on this point.

Pac ain't a welterweight it would be really unfair for him to fight a Cotto,Mosley,Clottey at that weight. No disrespect to Pac-man.
