I think Mayweather would win by wide UD. He's a level above Cotto.

Yeah, not KO, but MAYBE TKO, from just taking too many shots... once Floyd sees an opening in his defense he will capitalize on it... Cotto has decent defense but in respect not great so Floyd might catch him a lot coming in.

I respect that, but by TKO I don't mean KO with one punch, of course he aint gonna do that... but Mayweather is a smarter fighter than Mosley and in my opinion will pick him off more over the rounds, and towards the end as stamina fades he could start working him down, which COULD result in the fight being stopped... Cotto wont be out cold but the referee might not think he is fit to continue...

I still think the fight would go by decision though, I am just saying it is a possibility that could happen...

i know the triangular theory doesnt work. but cotto could use de la hoya game plan with the jab. and could win a split decision

Possible if Mayweather has plaster gloves like the Cheater but like it is Mayweather is way to feather fisted to KO top guys like Cotto or even Mosley. And there is no way Mayweather wins by TKO because he runs a lot and It would be hard for him to land enough combinations to make the reff stop the fight.

Mayweather best bet would be to win on the scorecard and I don't think he will be able to run away from Cotto for 12 rounds and win because Cotto is always chasing the opponent.

            Cotto wins by KO.

I would call Floyd knocking Cotto out unlikely, but Floyd has very sharp crisp punches if he catches Cotto with a big punch he does not see comming I think he can hurt Cotto, and if Floyd gets Cotto in trouble like that I think he will finish the job.

Not saying it is likely or probably, just that it is not totally out of the question.

Little Jotto couldn't KO Floyd's spit bucket.
So why won't Floyd fight Miguel? If it's so easy, I wish he would prove it and put all the doubt to rest. He is scared of Cotto. That's the truth. Floyd knows everyone wants to see that fight and if he was confident he would have fought him and beat him already.

cosign. good post, floyd's power comes from his timing and speed, unseen punches can hurt anyone.

adding something to this. cotto finish his oponent quicker than mayweather does. cotto ko % is near to 80% while mayweather is about 65%
