Why was Berto's opponent Urango chosen from a smaller weight division?

They are both DiBella now also I think? That is probably a fight we will see down the road, Quintana probably wanted to shake off some rust before taking that fight (I know I would not want to be rusty against a speed demon like Beerto).

Berto-Quintana would be interesting though, it would prove if Berto was top shelf or not.

Berto could fought Kermit but whatever...I think Berto would win that fight.

Urango's a decent opponent. I'm jus hopin for a good fight.

Berto-Quintana would be nice. Berto doesn't beat P.Will right now. And he probably wouldn't beat Shane but he turned the fight down anyway...

You're right, I do think they're both DiBella.

I don't think DiBella wants to put Berto in with Quintana.

Looking at Berto's future option I do not know where else he would go except for maybe a Zab fight, I doubt the situation for the main guys will change (although Cotto could leave Arum soon, but to me you can't be making future plans based on something like that).

Honestly IMO this fight is BS, and shows that Berto can't do much in the division. If he is seen as being too small for the best and other titlists in the division then he should drain himself and move down to 140, but that isn't the case and in all honesty, while he is a short welterweight, he is heavily built, and is probably one of the heavier ones. He will get beat up by any of the top 10 WW's though. He might have a chance against Quintana, but he doesn't have the power Cotto or Williams have, so there is a possibility he would be outboxed.

Yea, I think a Berto fight is unlikely for Cotto anyway, even if he leaves Arum. Assuming he beats Clottey, he's gonna be gunning for the mega fight.

Berto is more protected than Ft. Knox.

I cant beleive you guys. Man you people are starting to make me sick. You guys are so petty all the time. Dude tried hard to make a match with Sugar Shane and Cotto. The 2 guys who everyone on here sweats and says are the best in the divison. Both guys turned him down so he went to Urango. Im a big Collazo fan but I dont mind this move at all. Berto had a super tough fight with Collazo and is relativley inexperinced. This decision makes perfect sense to me. Either get the mega fight with Shane & Cotto or just take a easier fight to clear the cobwebs and fight someone good the next time. I cant beleive people hate on him for this move. Stop acting like he didnt try to get a Mosley & Cotto fight. He did it openly and both said NO for whatever reason. IM not saying theyre scared but they said NO. Since they said NO then just take a easier fight.

He's not ready to have all those tough fights back to back "unless" its for all the marbles like a Cotto or Mosley fight wouldve been. I bet anything that after Urango he tries to fight Cotto or Mosley again and this time if they say NO, he will fight Collazo or Quintana. You guys are so petty nowdays and you act like you dont even understand boxing and you make up arguments to try to make your point look better. One guy just said that Berto tried to make the Mosley fight but he didnt beleive there people really wanted it. Thats what Im talking aobut. Its just hating just for the sake of it. They turn him down and he gets ripped for it. Its ****** man. He wouldve definatly takened the Mosley or Cotto fight because he matches up well with both of them. Theyre not Southpaws
