Hey dumb -ss read the article. I speak with John David and historian Akbar Muhammed on the phone. John David is a former two time world champ, he was on the losing end of ring magazines 1994 fight of the year and he fought hopkins and he is considered to be one of the top ten trainers in the game today. He told me that Manny avoided fighting african american fighters. I reported it a few weeks ago and now I tried to analyze it. If one of the games top trainers says something like that, I shouldn't write about. If you read the article I said that Guzman has the skills set and style that epitomizes the style of good african american fighters. And I know Guzman is dominican. He's a mulato. In spanish that is not considered derogatory.

He's also the trainer of nate campbell who just got screwed over a 300k plus paycheck by the very own joan guzman. Nate campbell who is 36 & is at the end of the line in his boxing career. Its very easy to see he's fishing for a big fight for his fighter vs one of the biggest fishes in the sport.

Yes and no. Around April of 08 Shaeffer mentioned the possibility of Nate fighting Marquez in late September or October. It never amounted to any discussions because Nate couldnt sit around and wait 7 months. He had a WBO mando due with Casamayor, and also would have had the IBF mando with Funeka to deal with. Sitting inactive for 7 months would not have been an option at that time.......

As of now, he's a first balot hall of famer and will probably be ranked amongst the thirty greatest fighters in history of the sport, but he still has time left and can move up that list to the ultra-elite, next to guys like Ray Robinson, Roberto Duran, and Willie Pep, but he's going to need to beat at least one good African American fighter before he's through and it would be a whole lot better for his place in history if that fighter is named Floyd Mayweather Jr.

I may have my date mixed but didn't Marquez fight Casamayor on the same date that Nate was supposed to fight Guzman?

At any rate, I am sure these things happen, plenty of moving parts to making a fight happen. It's probably fair to say that simply because the fight did not happen at all, it is unfair to insinuate that Nate avoided Marquez, or for that matter that Nate avoids all Mexican counterpunchers.
