No question Tyson is overrated by his slobbering nuthuggers. That doesn't mean he wasn't better than Lewis though (who gets overrated by Pommies).

tyson was waay too small, prime tyson versus prime lewis would be the same as when they fought, lewis would use that powerful jab to keep tyson at bay, tyson would get frustrated and stopped in the later rounds

but whatever, you have your opinion and i have mine

Lewis wins it I think. Tyson didn't match up well against taller opponents who knew how to use their jab. Lewis wouldn't have been afraid of Tyson either. No doubt that Tyson would have a knockout chance, but Lewis had a great chin contrary to the bull****.

So you are expecting an overweight, weed smoking, untrained, shot fighter to show up vs. Lennox Lewis (who was however slightly past his prime as well)?

Tyson was "way to small" for everybody he fought, yet when trained he still won. If it was all about height and weight, he should have never been Champion. He should have never been able to outjab someone like Tucker.

Lewis's jab is actually overrated depending on who is rating it. I remember reading Holmes cracked on Lewis jab because he would paw with it to much.

I voted for option 3. Many things to think about with this fight.

I've always thought that out of everybody that Tyson could have met had he stayed the course and well trained under Rooney, prime vs. prime...at their best...Lewis would have given him the most trouble.

No more prime than Lewis was against McCall and Rahman - in fact less prime than Lewis was in those two fights, because Tyson had already started to noticeably decline before that. That's just a silly statement. Get over it.

I don't put that much stock in size when it comes to Heavyweights. If anything is overrated it's weight when people make these matchups.

Prime Tyson was late 80s. He was not prime when he fought Douglas.

                  Question:

Can the Mike Tyson that showed up against Douglas have beaten the version that Rooney trained from Berbick to Spinks?

Would you say there was anything missing by the time he fought Douglas or was he absolutely the same?

Cus already died by the time Tyson won his first title...but the connection yes: CATSKILL TEAM/Rooney/Cayton/Jacobs. Cus was used as a motivational tool for Tyson to get to the title and beyond with unifying it. It was interesting to hear Tyson's thoughts on this with regards to Cus in saying that had he lived it would have all been different.
I'm kind of surprised they still couldn’t keep him on track to finish it with getting to 50-0, but that is on Tyson...although I don't know exactly what was going on at the time with Mike's relationship with Rooney and others. It just fell apart.

I did hear once that after Mike got rid of Rooney that he planned on bringing him back. I think he told a reporter that...not sure. But, something happened...I think Rooney went through with suing him and that was that.

Tyson seemed to know he was on the slide which he kind of noted after the Bruno I fight in the post-fight press conference.
