Floyd Mayweather jr = Terrell Owens of Boxing

Terrell Owens had all the genetic gifts and tools to become the greatest receiver to ever live. But with his primadonna "look at me!!! I'm so underappreciated" swagger he has destroyed team after team from the inside out. Becoming a cancer to the sport and wasting a season and a half being suspended. All the talent in the world and he doesnt have a championship ring for it.

That is exactly what Mayweather jr is to boxing. An undoubtedly gifted fighter that could have been the greatest of all time but never dared to be great. Wasted a year retired while his greatest challenges unaccomplished. Now much like Terrell Owens....he is desperately trying to convince his fans and his organization that he is even worth what he is getting paid.

Yea, maybe so. I think they both get way to much heat for ****** meaningless ****. People look to nitpick at both guys and find any flaw then start making a big deal about it.

People like to make mountains over molehills with both guys~.

I would say TO did dare to be great because he was no one comming out of college and out achieved those drafted much farther ahead of him through working very hard to hone his skills. Floyd was just as deciated to his craft.

Floyd is just never going to be the good guy people will not allow it, same for TO they will always be the bad guys.

I see your point, but not everyone is the same, boxing is better have both good guys and bad guys, if everyone was cookie cutter it would be very boring, I like contrast.

I wasnt taking shots at Floyd bieng a bad guy. If that's who he is that's fine. I'm talking about being detrimental and counterproductive to what the team or sport is trying to achieve. As well as in terms of wasted talent by Floyd not fighting the best and TO always blowing it with every team.

I disagree with that, TO may be detremental to his team at times but it is not always the case.

JMM is one of the best in the sport, I do not really consider him a threat to beat Floyd but how do you know what the future holds in Floyd's come back. I find the sport much more interesting with Mayweather in the mix, there is no one else like him.

TO had the Gifts to become that, but he doesn't have Great hands like Other receivers do. Like Rice, Moss, Carter, etc. He drops a lot of passes. He has great speed and Strength. But his hands were never GREAT.

Floyd just ducks people. I can easily say Meldrick Taylor has the Genetic Gifts to become one of the greatest of all time. But look what happen to him when he met somebody who was less gifted then him (CHAVEZ)

I agree with that anology. T.O.'s 14122 receiving yards rank him fifth all-time. With 822 yards next season, he can climb into third or ... Even among the game's all-time greats, Owens does more than hold his own....So that's saying alot for Floyd's accomplishments because he's back and I don't see anyone beating him in the near future. Can it happen? Of course it can, no one is unbeatable. My Dad always told me it doesn't matter how bad you think you are there's always someone out there that is bigger and badder.

Funny thing is Floyd being the good guy would equal Shane Mosley popularity wise. Shane is one of my favorite fighters but you have to admit he never got fame and never was the type of draw he deserves to be. He should be a way bigger attraction in the sport. The fact that Margarito could demand the lion share from Mosley after his first Pay per view pissed me off major. For that reason I could care less about how Floyd or anybody else markets themselves as long as its effective.

Floyd is far from perfect himself. Hand problems and becomes complacent in the ring when in there with a physically inferior opponent. But the accomplishments are still all there.

But both guys have burned alot of bridges and running out of chances to prove their place in the limelight.

False. Booth guys stay in the limelight because media loves off the wall ****. T.O gets a sick amount of press no matter where he goes and there is always someplace for him to go. Mayweather has had boxing in the media again this week and it looks like he is even gaining support across the pond. Things arent looking bad at all right now.
