Why are people dismissing this? It's not a serious problem, but do you people not know how the casual fans are? Even if someone doesn't consider him/herself racist or even close to it, subconsciously they are partial to someone their own color and/or nationality. Only a few are not susceptible to this.
A couple questions for those that dismiss it: Why is Nascar the #2 highest rated sport in the US? Because it's cool to watch a cars taking 500 laps for 3 hours?Comment

honestly, i think it's more about the personality of the champs. i don't think pacquiao or cotto would be any more popular then they are if they were white. boxing just needs a good looking cat that can advertise/draw attention. i remember my whole block didn't really like boxing, but they were all hot for vargas when he was comin up.Comment
