Serious problem in boxing, we need more white champions

Teenage white kids need some boxers to look up to, guys like Kelly Pavlik who give hope to a Youngstown community in bad economic times. Other than Pavlik there is no one else to look up to. White youths have all those white UFC fighters and can relate to them. They in a way can associate with those fighters and where they came from. That is something they cannot do with hispanic or european fighters who dont speak english.

I don't think having white champions is going to make the sport that much worse or better.

Boxing has and always will be a globally recognized sport regardless of the color of one's skin.

Why not just take any boxer who is a good role model, who maybe comes from a tougher more dire situation than someone like a Kelly Pavlik and look up to that. Why do they have to be white?

So you're saying, because I'm white, I cannot relate to somebody of a different race? You have to be the same race to relate to them?
