DLH-Hopkins did 910,000 buys and DLH was guaranteed $25 mil and I think ended up making $30 mil while Hopkins took home something like $11.5 mil. That was actually a Top Rank fight, but theres something about the Golden Boy model where they make fighters "partners" and "co-promoters" that allows them to make more money than they otherwise would.Comment

I dont get what that really proves. He was talking about 30mil and were talking about 19. His point is more closer to mine than yours. His point was that if Floyd was getting 15 then there is no way that JMM is getting 15 and he's not. He's only getting 4. His numbers were based on 750,000 and mine were based on just under 600,000. His numbers also didnt include PPV from other Countries. I also think his numbers are off. I dont think the cable companies get 40%. I was listening to Lampley talk before the Hatton-Pac fight on a radio interview and he was talking about how there was an article saying that HBO is hyping up the fight but it will probably only get a million buys and HBO will be down about it. Lampley said, are you crazy. He said in this Economy if it does 600,000 or 650,000 then they will be thrilled and that was after that had already guranteed Pac & Hatton the 20 or 21mil. Its not all about PPV's. People act like its the only way you make money. What about the fights that are on regular HBO? They get paid millions for that too. Winky vs Williams & Taylor made solid amout of money and they didnt have a PPV. PPV doesnt dictate all the money that the fighters receive. Thats why they add it to the pay. Its always a bonus. They say you get this amount guaranteed plus an upside on the PPV. Its not all the moneyComment

jmm is a considerable underdog so:
1) jmm risks his health
2) jmm risks his chance to fight pac in a rubbermatch
3) jmm risks his undefeated streak
4) jmm risks his p4p #2 spot
5) if anyone gets knocked down or KOed its jmm
etc...
floyd is taking this fight as a tune up. be real man.
4 mill, let's hope he's not eating through a straw afterward.Comment

I am floored.
You quibble but don't read the content.
They can't do 500k and Floyd get 15 million.
It's not statistically possible.
The ppv for Hatton-Pac was dependent on overseas money unlike this one.
If you can't see the point, and get caught in the minutiae of a number, than there's no explaining it to you.Comment

This fight is gonna be more competative than you think especially since JMM handspeed is very underrated by most people.Last edited by pistol whip; 05-16-2009, 02:09 PM.Comment
