Ricky could easily validate himself here by holding the fight in Manchester, and giving tickets at discount price, or even free to anyone who is able to show a plane ticket or ticket stub from the May 2nd ********. He's got the money, and his fans have given him so much over the years. Why not, Ricky? You're still our guy.

Yeash, it's becoming a pattern, unfortunately. He's just saying whatever decision Hatton makes is the right decision for Hatton.

Try actually reading the bloody article before spouting bull****. Haye is just trying to be supportive, whatever Hatton decides to do.

Ricky's only lost twice against P4P #1's and IMO took much more of a demoralising beating against Mayweather. Against Pac it was a pretty brutal KO, but he knows what he did wrong and he didn't suffer major punishment as Haye points out. I think take one more fight as a tune up, see how it goes and maybe a couple more after that. If the tune up goes a similar way to the Lazcano fight or worse, then its definitly time to hang them up.

You're misunderstanding the article. He means he didn't take all that many punches. Boxers' health has rarely if ever been permanently damaged by a single knock-out punch, or by a relatively small number of hard punches over a couple of rounds - it's taking a prolonged beating that usually causes serious long term damage. Maurice Hope was knocked out even more badly against Benitez than Hatton was against Pac, but suffered no long term health problems at all. Ali, Roach and even Gerald McLellan had their health destroyed because they took prolonged beatings.

I still hope he retires though.

Ricky Hatton is done as a headliner in Las Vegas and has accomplished all he can in the sport of boxing. If he chose to retire he wouldn't be wrong. Having said that, if he wants to fight again there is one fight that he missed which he really should have had-- Junior Witter. Before hopping the pond many thought Ricky should clean up his own backyard and fight Witter. Witter chased him around but the fight never happened. Then Witter lost and Ricky's name was being tossed around as a possibly opponent for guys like De La Hoya and Pacman. Now that he's fallen from that level and won't be headlining in the US, it makes perfect sense to fight Witter in England to clearly show who's the best 140 pounder in the Commonwealth. Making it more enticing, there's rumors that Witter will get a shot at the WBC belt against Devon Alexander who I believe Witter has a good shot against.
