I've always said AA knocks Pavlik's lights out, but not like this, not weight-drained. Arum is as slick as my slick black hair.
This does appear quite suspect. Abraham is the only serious threat to Pavlik at 160 currently, and it is well known that Arthur is draining himself to make the weight. Prolonging the waiting is advantageous to Pavlik, but then again Kelly has made a few statements saying it's tough for him to make 160 now as well, so it works both ways.

Personally I feel this fight is a great action that can be won by either man, and that's what makes an excellent must see fight.

I think there planning on Pavlik to be champ for a while so there all are not going to be elite fighters.

And please stop with the myth that if Pavlik makes AA wait a couple months longer that he's going to out grow the weight class
Guys like Glen Johnson, Echols, and John David Jackson are nothing to sneeze at compared to Pavlik's recent opponents outside of Jermaine Taylor like Lockett, Rubio, and now Sergio Mora.

        Pavlik-Abraham

The love fest for Abraham here is just absurd. The guy won his belt in late 2005 and hasn't fought an 'A' opponent yet. Pavlik won his in late '07 but was contractually bound for the rematch in early '08. Yet, Pavlik is the one who is avoiding tough competition? I don't think so. I can't even imagine the crap Pavlik would get for a rematch with Miranda, yet Abraham was praised for the same fight.

Also, since when are Abraham's weight issues Pavlik's problem? Maybe Abraham should have thought about that when he was fighting 'B' or 'C' opponents for 3 years in Europe. Even though no one in the US except hardcore fans even knows who Abraham is, Pavlik is still going to fight him. Sorry that Pavlik isn't staying up at night worrying about whether Abraham will have to work hard to make weight, especially since Pavlik is a big middle himself. Obviously it didn't work out too well, but Pavlik moved up almost two weight classes to fight a Hall of Fame, P4P opponent. When has Abraham shown the same willingness to make a fight?

And, even if Pavlik did dodge Abraham, the whole sob story kind of falls apart when you consider that Super Middle is, by far, the more prestigious and option-filled division right now. If Abraham is so good, why not just go straight to a title fight at SMW and call out Pavlik from there? Pavlik is going to have to move up eventually anyway. Perhaps the real reason for all the Abraham/weight talk is so that, if Pavlik beats Abraham, he'll have a ready made excuse and can flee to SMW, maybe taking a bogus belt and defending it against joke competition for another few years like he did at MW.

Great first post. Welcome to Boxinscene. I agree 100% with your post and as a result you can expect a bunch of morons to tell you what an idiot you are for talking bad about Arthur "King Of What Exactly?" Abraham.

Pavlik moved up to fight Taylor at a catchweight because it was the fight that fans wanted. He fought Hopkins at 170 because he wanted to please boxing fans when he could have taken couple easy fights like AA has been doing his whole career.

As far as I am concerned what Pavlik learned in his loss to Hopkins is greater than anything Abraham has learned in his entire career in a boxing ring.

When these two guys get together everyone will be amazed at how easily Abraham is dismantled by the supposedly one dimensional Pavlik.

Of course that is beside the point. I think the reason so many people here build up Abraham is because they know he has good power and they want to look/sound as if they have knowledge of European boxing and are not biased against fighters from other countries.

Americans don't want to admit they like Brits here so they admit to liking the Kraut as a compromise to defend their xenophobic fandom.

Oh my God... Is there anybody (except Mora fans) who want to see this happening?

Who is going to pay for it? I mean who will be ready to pay some 50, 30,10 bucks to see this fight on PPV?

Even if it is not on PPV, how many people out there will spend their precious hours for this...

You dont seem to get it, Pavlik and AA are busy fighting bunch of low-level competition instead of facing each other, Now we all know AA and his promoters have been ready for a pavlik fight for sometime now(According to reports) but Arum kept pushing it back for pavlik to have another meaningless defence.

I remember when Jermaine Taylor was the Undisputed champ at 160 before he fought Pavlik he was ridiculed by us(Boxing fans), Media and arum for fighting people like Cory spinks,Kassim Ouma when pavlik was there.

Now Arum is doing the samething with Pavlik by having him fight the same meaningless fights like Taylor did in Lockett,Rubio and now Mora??
Sorry but this doesnt look good at all.

Why would pavlik be scared? Abraham is nothing like hopkins, is a poor mover and a seriously wide puncher, he hits hard but there are opportunities for kelly to get him down the pipe. Lujan Simon gave abraham a run for his money, so im not quick with the pavik is scared stuff.
