I wouldn't consider it a mega event like a DLH/Trinidad or a Lewis/Tyson. It'd surely be a huge, significant fight though. It'd be a big day for me. I'd dedicate an entire day to it.
two of the biggest names in boxing (imo both within the top 5 most talented boxers around). not to mention two of the most polished offensive fighters in the game
Q would like to disagree with you.... Cotto doesn't sell...
But this fight would do 700 to 800 buys IMO. I consider that mega.
But PPV buys isn't the only thing that makes a mega fight. Media coverage and such matters too. Even if Pac/Hatton only did 650K buys, the media coverage on it made it a mega event ya know?
In my honest opinion, I think it would be a very big fight, but not a MEGA fight. Tyson vs Spinks, Tyson vs Holyfield I & II, Tyson vs Lewis, and De La Hoya vs Mayweather (sigh) were seen as mega fights. Pacquiao vs Cotto would not be able to compete with those fights, and Cotto is not a big star.
