    If you go by the numbers, and $$$ is what's being talked about here, then Floyd is the bigger draw. And you can't just say that he needs big names to fight because there will ALWAYS be big names to fight, so what the hell's your point?

    Pac = more fans
    Floyd = more buys

    Make the purse 50/50 and make the fight happen
    If you add up their career PPV #'s, after they tally up the pac fight its going to be pretty close career wise. That's when the likeness factor kicks in. If were talking $$$ add up their career PPV sales. As close as it is, Pac's style and the way he makes the fights exciting should get him a slightly bigger piece of the pie imo.

      HBO doesn't divide the pie. But the network is the "funder' of the fight.

      With regard to the splits, it is traditionally done based on that fighter's historical sales performance. Think of it like a commercial on network TV. Proctor & gamble will pay x amount of dollars for a commercial on The Colbert Report. But they may pay 10x for that same commercial on Monday night Football.

      Manny has NOT put up big numbers...YET. I know we all say that manny is now a superduper star (over the past six days), but the reality is that:

      1) His Oscar fight did 1/2 what Floyd's Oscar fight did.

      2) his Diaz fight did 70% of what Floyd's Baldo fight did.

      3) His hatton fight did 70% of what Floyd;s Ricky fight did.

      These are just facts.
      Facts.

        That's what it is. Manny is more well-liked. Floyd sells more.

          Won't argue the facts & pre-Hatton I'd agree 100%. I just think after this fight with hatton, the way he won it, the history that was made, etc that going forward he will be the bigger draw. We'll get a good idea July 18th because I can't see Floyd hitting 500k. I might be wrong, and if so I'll believe it. But from a Fan's perspective going forward people want to watch pac fight. I mean my little sister now loves pac & the only fighters she really watched were oscar/roy/floyd. We can't answer this question until Pac's next non name opponent PPV or Floyd's numbers with Marqeuz come in.

              Pacman also draws celebritys. He's becoming the celebritys celebrity. Mark Wahlberg, The celtics, Christian bale, Mickey Rourke, and Shawn Merriman seek him out, not only on fight nights either.

                I understand your point. But "hockey stick" forecasting is a dangerous game.

                Plus, a fighter who puts on a great performance very often can't translate that into commercial success. Clearest example this year? Shane Mosley.

                Shane put on arguably the best performance of the year (margo was more dangerous than Oscar and Hatton). What has SSM done with all that public goodwill and fan recognition?

                  Oh I hear ya. But I think Pac stopping Oscar regardless of the problems with Oscar's weight put him in peoples minds. That fast lil asian guy that stopped oscar. Then you hype pac/hatton as potential FOY and its a devestating one sided beatdown. Pac's carrying a helluva a lot of momentum right now. Something boxing hasn't seen lately. I think putting boxing back in sports headlines is amazing, especially with the way MMA has come on. Remember, Oscar/Floyd was the fight to save boxing. We all remember the backlash the media gave boxing after that fight, Now Pac is doing the exact opposite. You can argue both ways, but personally as a die hard fan what Pac's done for the sport now gives him an edge in my mind.

                    The question is clear and straight forward, who's a bigger draw not whos mom likes which fighter more.

                    I see a lot of pacstans voted, because in reality, as much as one likes Pacquiao, he has not brought in what Mayweather Jr. has, and thats a fact. He's had more chances as well, and it just goes to show that Mayweather Jr. has that characteristic and obvious skill to compare to sell fights.

                      If you look at their career PPV numbers they are very close. Pas been on PPV more. Pac is more entertaining in the ring. Pac has all the momentum & he is the face of boxing right now. Again, going forward logic says Pac will draw bigger. We'll find out July 18th, I dont think they break 500k. We shall see.
