Cotto is Prepared To Fight Pacquiao After Clottey

he said after the Margarito fight that the reason why he didn't
clinch or hold was because that's not what Boxing is about?
Those are words from a good fighter not a great one. I think
Cotto could have beat Margarito but he did not study him and
completely underestimated Antonio Margarito, eventhough they
fought on the same card prior to their fight. Miguel Cotto has
potential to be a better fighter but he still needs work at
his fundamentals. I think the Margarito fight is a perfect example
to see how he adapts in the ring when his power and pressure is
neutralized.
People keep making excuses that Margarito used Plaster but if that
is the case who knows how long he has been using it? So if he used
it agaisnt Cotto then he used it before Cotto and with that said then
he had it on with Paul Williams but did Paul fight Margarito like that?
Did Joshua Clottey fight Margarito like that? & Clottey had a broken
hand. The reason I say he is overrated is because he did not come
to the ring with a plan on how to beat the bigger man and couldn't
adapt to the pressure and laid on the ropes, totally giving the 1
dimensional fighter the advantage over his superiority skill wise.
Again, people say Margarito had Plaster but we have to take into consideration that he had it for Williams and clottey too but they
fought Margarito with a smarter game plan. Clottey lost but survived
injured? I feel Cotto was just feeling himself too much and he even said
before the Margarito fight that he felt invincible, so he slept on
his opposition and paid for it. He's good but not great.

The overall aspect of him being my favorite fighter spans throughout
his WHOLE CAREER, not just 1 division. Cotto/Mosley/Margarito
may have a better resume at 147 than Floyd but Floyd has had the
more accomplished and dominating career. Paul Williams resume is
not even better than Floyd's at 147? Beats Margarito than loses to
Quintana in his first title defense then wins the rematch and that's pretty much his 147 run. Cotto beats Quintana, Judah (So did Floyd), Beats
Mosley, fights Gomez (gift win), loses to Margarito, beats Jennings,
(Gift win). Margarito, beats Clottey (Good win) Beats Cintron, loses
to Paul, beats Cintron again, beats Cotto, Gets beat by Mosley and is
exposed as a cheater in the same night. Mosley and Floyd careers
are more impressive to me.
grustlah,
its not about having a better resume. if that was the case nobody would be able to get a fight with ray robinson, duran, ray leonard. Nobody can get a fight now w/ pacquiao. Of course people are gonna have better resume than the other boxers. That doesnt mean u dont have to fight him. Sure fraud jr's resume is better than cotto, but if he takes him on it will only enhance both of their records. Fighting marquez only adds to the criticism.

I agree he's an idiot and it pisses me off with his too macho to clinch thing. And I agree that he didn't adapt well to Margarito's pressure, but that's the only time we've seen him not adapt well.
Cotto has great skills, and he has good fundamentals. I think you're confusing fundamentals with game planning. Clinching isn't a fundamental. Cotto has good footwork, tight punches that he can throw with both hands. Cotto in the hands of the right trainer, IMO, can be as good as any fighter going right now with the exception of Floyd.
I think you're "Cotto is overrated" thing is more a reaction to Cotto fans that bother you.
technical mind frame to win in a drastic situation. His power
has been what catipulted him to the status he was at before
he fought Margarito. You take his pressure and power away
then he is there for the taking. I am curious to see what
Cotto will do come June 13th to see how well he has improved.

Realistically though Cotto has trained himself or at the very least hasnt had a dedicated trainer to take care of things like strategy. Now with or without Plaster maybe Margarito is simply Cotto's kryptonite. Margarito has a granite chin, insane workrate and the way he and Cotto match up physically well you ve seen the pictures. It is obvious that you are a very smart guy when it comes to boxing. It should be pretty easy for you to realize that the same guy that pummeled Margarito was beaten by Cotto in a showcase fight. Cotto has earned respect as a current great fighter, not ATG or at least quite far down on the list but no doubt he gets the nod as one o the best currently. by the way love your pics with Bhop, ****in cool man!
first then Cotto second. Cotto's going to have to fight Clottey for
that slot on June 13th. Floyd just came back so if he wants a slot
at 147 then he is going to have to prove it by fighting either or both
of those guys. THANKS! Glad that you like the pics. Yeah,
a friend of mine introduced me and Bernhard and he is a good guy.
Chilled with him during the day at the Magic Clothing Convention and
later that night at the Maxim Magazine party at the Ghost Bar in Las
Vegas (INSANE).

Cotto is getting way ahead of himself. I don't even know if he'll make it past Clottey. Besides that, I have next to no interest seeing Cotto-Paquiao. Cotto needs to fight Mosley so we can determine a new Welterweight champ (should he actually make it past Clottey).
