Floyd and Manny have showed us along with many other boxers whether you weigh 135 or 147 weight does not have as much as a significance in boxing as people make it to be.
Floyd and manny are the exceptions that prove the rule.

Unless you are something truely special moving up 2 weight divisions means you lose.

You think Katsidis could move up from lightweight and beat Gomez?

Or Could Gomez move upto Middle and beat Mundine?

How about Mundine moving up to light heavy and fighting Inkin?

Would you back Inkin to beat Valuev?

MP doesnt deserve any credit for beating DLH and Hatton who should have retired after getting stomped by PBF.

everyone called for Hattons retirement after he got beat down by PBF and it was for good reason.
its simple... don't take the fight.

its also simple that roach wants the welterweights that fight MP to compromise their health by losing enough weight that they wont have the energy at 140

Boxers are great athletes no doubt about it,but as they get older like anyone else its harder to lose weight and it takes alot more work to lose the weight.Lets say Cotto walks around at 155 between training for fights. For him now to reach 140 instead of 147 thats a huge difference. At some point he's losing muscle, strength and probably some stamina just to make 140. Boxers should fight the weight thay are most comfortable at, nothing less. One day of eating after the weigh in doesn't mean **** after 8 weeks of losing body mass. The worst thing a boxer can do is fight dehydrated, it will cause more brain damage and concussions.

A great fighter wont lose a fight because its 5 pounds above his regular weight, its just an excuse.
Tell that to Sugar Ray Robinson, the GOAT, after losing to Maxim for the lightheavyweight title due to heat exhaustion. Or Stanley Ketchel who was knocked senseless by Jack Johnson. Henry Armstrong who lost by decision to Ceferino Garcia for the middleweight crown.

Weight matters and it is one of the foundations of modern boxing. That's why there are weight classes.

If weight doesn't matter, then why did Floyd pick a 36 year old fighter two weight classes lower than him? Why not pick on Paul Williams at middleweight?

Go watch WWE, so you can watch midgets fight giants.

if they were smart they wouldnt. PBF wont . i bet the fight will be either at 147 or a catch weight.

fact is, Manny isnt proving anything to me.

                      never has.

i give him credit but he wouldnt have beat morales and barrera in their prime.

would have beat DLH at 147 even after losing to PBF.

anyone with decent "boxing" skill can beat Hatton.

but Pacman has trouble with defensive counter punchers. manily b/c he doesnt have that good of a defense. hes more offense than defense

Pacman has never met a fighter like PBF. PBF is too smart, too cleaver, too sneaky and illusive, fast, powerful and precise for MP and JMM
