Don't give me that size BS. Boxing has weight divisions not height divisions.
Everything battling said in this thread is correct....

Your saying cos floyd came up a few years ago tis equal to JMM coming up now? WRONG...the body takes time to get used to weight...you cant just jump up 10 pounds in a few months and expect to be as fast as you were, could even lose power.....

Floyd may have started his career at a lower weight...but hes been at these weights for years, his body is completely addapted to these weights.

So like he said, why dont floyd jump up 2 weight divisions to fight pavlik...answer is COS WEIGHT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

It's like Kelly pavlik vs nard at 170 It wouldn't have made a difference at all if it were at 166, 160, 158, 154 etc.
Well, I was grossly exaggerating but I guess we will have to just wait to find out in July what difference a few pounds makes.

He actually has a point if pbf wants to show that he has the balls why not jump weight classes like marquez did.

I wanted to add it also depends on the fighters and various circumstances too. Weight isn't always a big deal is probably a better way of putting it.

Besides though, every fighter deals with disadvantages in the ring these days when fighters are coming in anywhere from 0-30 pounds over the agreed upon weight. So you can fight a guy in your own weight division who out weighs you by 30 pounds come fight night. You could then fight a guy in a weight division above you and he'll still weigh less than the previous opponent!

That is very true, I make threads all of the time about 170 welterweights....There are alot of questions marks about the Floyd/JMM fight considering Marquez has never gone this high, and we have to consider what both will weigh on fight night to me that is much more important than a weigh in a day before.

style is more important than size in most cases

I think its easier for featherweights to go up to the light, superlight weight divisions etc than it is for a middleweight to jump up to cruiserweight.
                      Depends on height also
