Manny Pacquiao is not as big a draw as Mayweather. But that's fine. There is no shame in being the #2 draw in the sport. Remember, #2 is the position that Floyd held, commercially speaking.

The important thing to note is that a fight between them (Floyd and Manny) would be greater than the sum of its parts. Just like "The World Awaits". Oscar's previous high was 1.4 mil. And Floyd's was 400K. Together, they did 2.4 mil.

The reason that Schaefer and Goldie tolerate Floyd's antics is they realize that the same behaviours that annoy them, also brings fans in droves.

Mayweather will ask for - and get - the higher cut. But Arum/Manny will be smart and they will look at the dollars and not percentages. You can't spend percentages. Put the emotions on the shelf.

That was the mistake that Shane previously made. He turned down $10 mil for an Oscar fight to go get beat by Winky.

....and , guys, the economy has had VERY LITTLE impact to PPV buys. The VOD business remains robust.

It didn't, actually. It did less at the gate, and less on the tube.

i dont know. you know im not crazy enough to say no just to protect some mythical status of my favorite fighter on a messageboard. Its tough to say because mayweather and oscar did 2.4mil together and pacs previous ppvs like the smaller top rank ones and the david diaz fight were nowhere near mayweathers numbers.

          very true....
but if Mayweather does 600k or more with JMM and Pacquiao only did 400k
you know Mayweather will justify so have the upper hand in bargaining

He essentially has HBO over a barrel. The event is eight weeks out, and they have already started shooting the 24/7.

The expectations for the PPV sales are moderate for this one. But it could outperform to the tune of 600K-ish. Who knows?

We are talking domestic US sales. just to keep it apples-to-apples.

Also, please note that the unit price is reduced in the UK.
