HBO PPV Exec Estimates 850k Buys for Pac-Hatton

Arum must be floating the combined US/UK numbers when he gloats about this fight doing 1.5-2 million.

According to an HBO PPV executive (sorry, no link as this was a personal conversation, but I hope you guys will trust this regardless), the fight did approximately 850k domestic PPV buys. HBO is still waiting on official numbers from Comcast before they can finalize a total, they have the numbers from DirecTV, Cox, et al.

Looks like it will miss the 910k done by Mayweather-Hatton...but a huge success nonetheless.

Looks like only a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight has a chance to break the 1 million buys barrier. There is no bigger fight in boxing...that one could probably do 1.5 million, maybe more.

Considering Jones-Trinidad did 500k... that's not really good...

Well, why wouldn't Arum combine the us/uk numbers?

Now, he may have qualified his statement to ensure he was including them, but the domestic record is 2.5 for DLH-PBF, and when he is saying the fight did possibly over 2 million, it makes it look like his man (Pac) is the new DLH. It's just misleading, that's all.

I'm sure he doesn't really care, he makes plenty of cash either way.

I think just putting the names Roy Jones and Felix trinidad on the same sheet of paper would have had a decent draw no matter the year. Still good numbers for Pac and Hatton. May allow Floyd to play hard ball though.

Given the economy those are more than respectable numbers
