I agree. I truly believe Cotto is overrated. He is an alright fighter PERIOD. I dont see him as being special. What has he improved on since he was @ 140? Watch by the end of next year they will be calling Cotto "the gate keeper" at WW. SSM would be a harder fight for FMJ than Cotto. But Floyd beats both.

Thank You! People think I hate Cotto but that's not the case
because I love Boxing period. I never been sold on Cotto as
a complete fighter but he is entertaining. Cotto has to tighten
up some fundamentals. Can't wait till June 13th to see how
he deals with Clottey. That will tell a lot considering that
Clottey fought Margarito to a stand still and at times ****
on Antonio till the injury. Major props to him for taking the
fight and giving Clottey a shot when no one else would.

your back and forht with shane-cotto-floyd may come to nought because there is more probability that cotto will fyt manny, and with equal probability that he loses to manny. :boobies:
        good mind exchange though....

manny's last stop will be floyd; win or lose he retires!

I have been adament about my thoughts on both Antonio Margarito
and Miguel Cotto and have been ridiculed for it. I never saw anything
special about them besides being pressure fighters with big punches
and that's why when they fought the bigger pressure and puncher
fighter canceled out the other. All you really need is to dsiplay a
plan effectively and you can beat them. Emmanuel Steward kept
saying in the Zab/Cotto fight that all Judah had to do was catch
Cotto with the right because he was open for it all night. Emmanuel
kept emphasizing on it throughout the rounds. Floyd best punch is
the lead right. Cotto would never see Floyd coming especially how
he comes in with his head down.

Let's see.... Fernando Vargas by a left hook. Ricardo Mayorga, took him til the 12th but regardless, one punch sat him down for the count, and pretty much all of his early days KOs from 135 where particularly brutal one punch KOs. The better question is, who has Mayweather ever knocked out with one punch?

"Again Mayweather has enough power to make everyone he has fought reluctant to throw a lot of punches. Who has Mayweather fought that threw and landed more punches? Yes, Mosley can take a punch but believe me NO ONE likes to get punched in the face even by the most "feathered" fisted opponent."

He hasn't fought anyone who threw and landed more. This is Mayweather's biggest selling point; His ability to avoid punches/connect with extreme accuracy. No one is dis*****g that. This is also why he is considered boring, and he is more than content to hop on the bicycle and coast to a UD as he did with even lesser foes like Baldomir. Compare that to a true great in Sugar Ray Robinson, or hell even Sugar Ray Leonard. Those guys had excellent defense and always looked for the KO. Does Floyd?

"How can you say Cotto has the power to hurt Mayweather? Be honest have you ever seen Mayweather hurt to the point to have shaky legs? "

Yes, fricking DeMarcus Chop Chop Corley had Mayweather shaky, Castillo rattled him and wobbled him, even Judah check hooked Mayweather and made him stumble around. So the answer to that is yes I have.

"So we have seen fighters take Cotto's best punch and smile so I really dont believe he hits as hard as some of his fans would lead us to believe. When Cotto stepped up in competition were was this knockout power? I truly believe his left hook is overrated. Its not like he hits like Tito with the left hook"

His left hook is deadly to the body. He crushed Quintana with it, had a hell of a battle with Ricardo Torres and demonstrated with it upstairs/downstairs. Cotto isn't a one punch KO artist. He has very heavy hands and that's what gets him his KOs, so in a way you are right that he might be somewhat overrated in his ONE PUNCH ko power, but his power is very strong. The reason he hasn't knocked out many "elite" fighters is in his competition. Mosley was the first to knockout Margarito for instance, and Cotto couldn't hurt Mosley, but then again no one has shown that ability to date either. Fact is, anyone Miguel was supposed to knock out or even had a chance to besides Mosley and Margarito for reasons I just mentioned, he DID knock them out.

"Yes he has knocked out C level opponents. Cotto has been hit and hurt by lighter hitting fighters than FMJ so HIS chin should be the one in question. Cotto being a pressure fighter will work against him if he fights Floyd. FMJ loves for a fighter to come to him. For example: Corrales, Hatton, Castillo and Ndou.
            "

Of all the times Cotto has been seriously hurt, they were at 140 where he was struggling to make the weight. I can only think of maybe two instances where he was recently visibily hurt: Judah caught him early, and Margarito obviously beat his face in, possibly with wraps so if anything that tells me Cotto can take severe punishment to the face. Floyd does like an aggressive fighter that's RECKLESS, ie Corrales, Hatton, Castillo. Cotto is not reckless. He is measured and ruthless in his pressure. If he sees it isn't working, he will adapt and box as he did in the Mosley fight.

The way Miguel Cotto performed at 140 I don't see him losing that
weight to go to a catch and being totally dominate against Manny.
Manny would capatilize on Cotto's openings. I'm telling you, Freddie
Roach would have a field day training Manny for Cotto. At 147 I
can see Cotto putting Manny down but anything lowe Manny takes
                  it.

Cotto has some discipline but he is still a pressure fighter. I
remember Floyd said "Cotto thinks the way to beat me is pressure
but that's not it" Pressure fighters who rely on power keep themselves
open and subject to counters. Judah had the right plan but not the
heart to execute effectively because if he did he could have finished
                    Cotto early.
