  • Mayweather vs. Marquez - A Worthy Semifinal

    By Jake Donovan -

With every great performance always comes the demand for an encore. Sports fans often wax poetic about their heroes going out on top, but it’s never truly enough. The more they succeed, the more we want to see them tested at least one more time. [details]

Maybe it is because he revels in playing the villain but Mayweather is dissed more then any other modern fighter. If you had two articles about both Mayweather and Margo you would find as many people dissing Mayweather as the man who wanted to murder people by cheating in the ring. The slurs against Mayweather tend to be far more purile and childish as well.

Odd. Personally I think we wait and see what happens in the JMM match and judge from there.

        Mayweather is the bad guy.
and therefore he will always receive undue amount hate and be underestimated and under appreciated.

If I were Marquez I would try to get Joan Guzman as a sparring partner for this fight. Everyone who fights Floyd always uses Steve Forbes for sparring to prepare but love him or hate him, Joan Guzman in terms of style, speed and defense is the closest thing to Floyd out there & the infamous stories about sparring sessions nowadays I think Guzman would do it and it would be great sparring preparation for Marquez.

Larry is the voice that everyone else seems afraid to be. The bottom line is that Floyd's arrogance brings the hate upon himself. Don't say you're the greatest fighter to ever live if you don't or aren't willing to prove it in the ring. And he has said it numerous
times. And old timers don't want to hear that when they've witnessed and covered true fighting legends that actually fought for a living. Not just give lip service to there so called accomplishments. This is Floyds memorable fights: corrales fresh out of prison and weight drained, castillo which many felt he could have lost, de me hoya who is clearly not in his prime, and hatton, please! I wont mention Zab because my heart hurts at the talent that he has wasted. And let's not forget the crying after the gotti fight, who exactly did he feel he had just beat. It's still just gotti! The guy hasgreat boxing ability but he lacks the heart to be great, period! His legacy and record will prove that just like the great welsh joe. PAC now and even oscar was throwback fighters they fought the best and often more than once. Floyd never has and never will be that guy, he's the guy that invades a division and fights the weak link (baldomir, gotti) for example. If he wanted to great hecould have there weren't and aren't any shortage of good if not great fighters would jump at the chance to fight him. What I'm saying is that if u fight for money then say that I can't fault a man for getting paid, just don't call yourself the greatest. It offends people like myself and disrespects Robinson, louis, Ali, ect..... They guys that actually fought and left a piece of themselves in the ring! The ones that made boxing what it is today for not a portion of the pay days they get today. But props to PAC, cotto, Williams, mosley and there r more that fight the best and take risks in fights that they could lose and not just for checks but the chance to be great, challenging themselves to be consistently great. That's a champion, that's a legeng, and as it stands now that ain't Floyd Mayweather!
