This fight isnt at WW....and JMM said 144 or less is fine with him....Im sure he knows his body..considering he weighed 144 pounds before. in a fight.
Maybe Floyd fans don't realize this, but... calling JMM a tune-up fight can only bring about negative reactions to it.

JMM is a GREAT fighter...but compared to the skil level of Floyd...hes a tune up for the Pac-Hatton winner. How are we supposed to give tremendous amounts of credit for Floyd winning a tune-up fight?

i agree. in some rounds of barrera/marquez, barrera forced marquez to come forward, and marquez didnt look quite good.

That's why Hopkins defended his LHW title against Wright when the weight was 170... anything above the division under is that division.

Also, it's not the skill levels that make it a tune-up, it's the size... don't kid yourself.

By the way, I ****ing knew someone was going to say 144 in their response to my post... that's why I didn't write 147, because I know it's not at 147, but 144 is considered a welterweight fight, because it could still be for a WW title, but not a JWW title. Truth.

Nope, not the same,as far as 1 fight u could make an argument, just saying that to be fair!!But B-Hop has had a career of being an underdog,or pulling of the upset,Trinidad,Tarver and Pavlik, just to name a few!!!

B-Hop has been proven his whole career!!The 1 and only time floyd took a serious challenge was against Chico,so he should get no pass,Chico at 135 was how long ago??Career wise and accomplishment wise, there should be no comparison!!!

WTF... you don't think Castillo at 135 was a challenge? The rematch after a lot of people thought he lost?

How about moving up to his 5th division to fight Oscar when he is a small WW himself?

People are pretty quick to overlook the good parts of Mayweather's resume for some reason.

I have Personally met Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, and Juan Manuel Marquez in person. and they are all small and the same size.

and I dont see no problem with the weight difference between floyd and jmm
since Floyd fights bigger guys all the time.

You cant say all the size will be difference will be to big when I seen Floyd fight guys 20 pounds heavier then him in most of all his fights. and i dont think floyd will come in 15-20 pounds heavier than JMM when they fight...
at most it will be 5 pounds

If you care are weight and size when fighters face each other than I think you should be worry when floyd has to fight guys 15-20 pounds higher than him all the time.

btw size most of the time doesnt win fights skills and brains win fights.

I am very excited for this fight.

Lets not forget Floyd moved up to 135 and fought the best fighter in the divison....Castillo......Twice...in back to back fights.

You make a good point. The two fights are quite similar however I think Hopkins gets a lot of credit because he was 42. Some people forget how olad 42 is sometimes because of the ease at which he continues to fight. Also I think there was less of a size difference in he Wright Hopkins fight. Throughout he majority of their careers they were only separated by one weight division. There was actually talk of the two fighting at middleweight. But then again Mayweather doesn't use his physical size in fights unlike Hopkins, so I guess the weight matters less. The question is how much the extra weight will slow Marquez down.
I think this is a good win for Floyd to put on his resume however I think it is completely dependant on how good Marquez looks during the fight. Regardless of weight this is the greatest prime fighter Floyd has fought in his career.

If your looking at it that way, which isn't really related to weight, I guess you have a point. Bernard was merely putting the final touches to a great career whereas Floyd has a bit more to prove than B-Hop did at the time. Either way I like the fight
