Doesn't change the fact that Cotto "ducked" him at 140.
Its the vid of Larry Merchant grilling Floyd about fighting Cotto during his post fight interview with Hatton.

Ah that's hilarious. but what was the point you were making?

I thought you were putting up something with Cotto talking Floyd. That's what I want to see.....

Give me a break. Most big fights have all kinds of shennanigans going on. He tried to get an advantage and didn't get a full one. OOHHHH big deal.

Let's name all the ****head fighters that have taken advantage of SOMETHING to build a name or get money:

        James Toney (old ass holyfield)
Roy Jones Jr. (Tarver III was fought in a stadium)
        Mike Tyson
        Lennox Lewis
        Bernard Hopkins
        Joe Calzaghe
        Sven Ottke
        Wlad Klit
        Corrie Sanders

        etc. etc.

Give it a rest okay? Asking for a weight that's good for you is NOT taking a huge advantage. LOL. It's just trying to make it easy on yourself.

I wonder if you clowns were cursing Ruiz for daring to fight Roy Jones since he was so much bigger. LOL.
I know it happens every time. That's what negotiations is all about.

In this case however it's the superstar who pretty much dictates the terms. It's seen before for sure. Ray Leonard is a prime example for instance when he fought Don Lalonde he insisted on a catchweight instead of 175 where Lalonde was a champ. Leonard pretty easy beat Lalonde and walked away with Lalonde's LHW title + the appropriately invented SMW strap and BINGO SRL was a 5 division champ.

Floyd is just giving himself an edge and yet some posters still claim that a win over an overblown LW is very good if not great.

I dunno why Floyd wouldn't want to fight him at 147 (THE MAGIC WEIGHT CLASS) instead of OSCAR DE LA HOYA.
According to this article, Floyd said that. I am sure Cotto probably felt the same way.

“Cotto needs a couple more tune-ups. Right now he’s a little too green,” Mayweather said.

Gatti-Mayweather is the immediate plan. But Top Rank is taking a close look at this, and seeing this backup solution: Mayweather-Cotto in a pay-per-view clash this summer, instead of Gatti-Mayweather. Then, if Cotto wins, make a pay-per-view mega fight against De La Hoya in late 2005.

Cotto's reply in the same article:

"We’re rivals,” Cotto said. “Mayweather is a star of the sport and we’re in the same company. Mayweather was a great champion at 130 and 135. We don’t know about 140. When the company says the time is right to make the fight, I’ll fight him. I think it's a good fight. I know Mayweather's a great fighter. But I know I can beat him."

Didn't Floyd Mayweather state Miguel Cotto was too green at 140lbs? I believe there was an interview where he indeed state that. But a couple of years later he turned down a proposed fight stating Miguel Cotto apparently had to become his own CEO which in the world of Boxing is a rarity. So realistically, when would be the best time for those 2 great fighters to face each other? Both are still very young in terms of where they're at in their careers.

Sorry don't have time today to do extensive googling on the issue. But at 140 the fight was there. The green comment may have come from Floyd and I got that mixed up but I do remember Cotto's camp saying they needed more fights first.

During POST FIGHT INTERVIEWS Cotto seems to forget the name Floyd Mayweather...

                    NOW WHY IS THAT??

He had the ENTIRE BOXING WORLD listening and he SISSIED-OUT

All Cotto could say when asked DIRECTLY about fighting Mayweather is:

"I just fights who my peoples tells me to fights"

                    LOL

Those are not the words of a confident fighter.
