I don't remember Calzaghe being an underdog vs Eubank, but perhaps I'm forgetting that?

I would say that a win over Taylor is better than a win over the Eubank that JC fought.

I might change my mind if Taylor fails to have another decent win, but even beating Lacy is more significant than anyone Eubank beat in the last few years of his career. Taylor is probably past his best, but he still has quite a bit left.

Obviously Calzaghe had a more dominant performance, but I would go with Froch beating Taylor as the better win.

My bad, I thought someone on here said he was the underdog in that fight... Still a very good win for Calzaghe.

Of course he wouldn't KO Eubank. Chris' chin was ****ing immense. Consider what Eubank did after the Calzaghe fight -- moved up to Cruiserweight and fought Carl Thompson twice. I had him winning the first fight, but the second fight was stopped because of a cut. He caused Thompson plenty of trouble. Thompson was the only guy to beat David Haye -- a tough cookie and hard hitting fighter. Eubank was not shot, if anything he was cautious ever since the Michael Watson tragedy. Regardless, to this day, Calzaghe says Eubank was his toughest fight.

eh, its close, but imo Taylor and that version of Eubank were almost just as good as one another, and since Calzaghe's win was much more dominant, Ill give it to him. Eubank was certainly past his best and had already lost to Steve Collins(plus he took the fight on short notice and had to dehydrate himself to make weight from what Ive heard), but hes still a pretty damn good fighter.

you have to remember that Taylor has always been a little patchy in his performances, and this was his second weight class. so that takes away from the win a little bit.

if Taylor can go on to accomplish some impressive other things after this fight, my opinion might change.

People take the weight issue too far. Eubank himself has admitted to losing a stone/14 pounds in a single week before a fight. Undoubtedly, losing 7 pounds in 2 weeks (training for a fight at 175 and going down to SMW) shouldn't be a major concern for a fighter who's known for dropping twice as much weight in half the time. Making weight very late was normal for Eubank, this is by his own admission.

lets be real here. chris eubank is the original jermain taylor. he must have recieved about 6 or 7 gift decisions in his career. i can't believe he's so hyped. taylor probably should have lost to hopkins and winky but i dont see taylor losing to guys like ray close, schommer, amaril, and sherry. those are gimme title defenses that eubank should have lost.

hmmm, thats true. Eubank did get a few gift decisions late in his career, although I only remember the Close and Schommer ones.
