Ricky is being too nice, too overwhelmed about being in the US and to me he seems just happy to be part of an huge event, enjoying the ride. That's not the mindset imo, he should be there "on a mission". The biggest example, "lets ave'him", i don't think we will hear something as ****y from Ricky this time around.
How about this:
Hatton: "Re-mortgage Your Home, Bet Everything on Me"
Junior welterweight Ricky Hatton is so confident of beating Manny Pacquiao on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, he is telling anyone who wants to make a lot of money to empty out their bank account, re-mortgage their home - and bet everything on him. Hatton is the betting underdog.
"Re-mortgage the house and empty the bank and put it all on me. I'm not *getting ahead of myself. It's just the build of my opponent and how I feel. That's what I'm going on. Every day of the week I can beat this guy," Hatton told The Guardian .
"I'm so, so confident it's unreal. People are getting carried away with Pacquiao's speed, but don't forget I'm a bit of a whippet myself. It has all gone really smoothly for this fight and this is the sharpest I've been."Last edited by Dave Rado; 04-26-2009, 07:36 PM.Comment

This is my opinion, right! but I am basing my understanding on what I read!
David Haye said, Manchester's Ricky Hatton will need to put out the best performance of his life to defeat Manny Pacquiao on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. "Hatton needs to fight better than he did against Tszyu to get the win. Hatton needs to be better. "Hatton needs to fight better than he did against Tszyu to get the win
When was Hatton had his best performance? his fight with the No. 3 P4P Tszyu at that time is regarded as his best performance to date, but Haye said, not my opinion remember, should be better than that performance in order to win against Pacquiao. What else Hatton's have better than this? So my understanding basing on what Haye statement:
What Haye meant so simple, that Hatton just haves slim chance to win on May 2!
Haye does not agree with Hatton's mindset of Pacquiao "being too small" to make a dent at junior welterweight. Hatton believes that Pacquiao's win over De La Hoya was a fluke because Oscar was weight drain
This is my understanding on what Haye said, Pacquiao should regarded as a force to reckon in JWW, not a small fighter but can threw an effective shots and can received shots and felt the impact just like others in the JWW fighters does, including Hatton. So my understanding is,
That ODLH loss to Pacman was real, and not because ODLH was over-drained! And that the Hatton hard hitting punches are not actually that hard, but just overhypes
If you have your own different opinion, then go ahead post it and we'll respect your opinion! Just respect other's opinion too, right or wrong to you. This is an opinon-sharing thread not meant to project our own opinions to others, otherwise we're insulting other's common sense!Comment

You know what Rado, i have my opinion, you have yours, and everyone has their own opinion and just like you, as long as we are not banned here can post our opinions here!

He did not make any predictions one way or the other about his chances, slim or otherwise, he's just saying that Hatton will have to fight the best fight he's ever fought, if he's going to have any chance of winning - which even most Hatton fans would agree with. In fact even Hatton himself has said that in the past.
So you're entitled to your opinion that Hatton's chances are slim, but Haye did not state his opinion on what he thinks his chances are, he just pointed out that Hatton will have to fight better than he has ever fought before if he's to have any chance.
2) The only thing Haye said about the size thing is "If Ricky can beat the best pound-for pound fighter in the world, that will be a mammoth achievement. A lot of people think Pacquiao is small, but this guy is the real deal." He said nothing whatsoever about the De La Hoya fight. You are confusing what the author of the article said, when summarising what Hatton has said in the past, with what Haye himself said, which was simply that Pacquiao will not be too small and that he thinks the size advantage that Hatton says he has is illusory.Last edited by Dave Rado; 04-26-2009, 11:25 PM.Comment

I completely disagree with you... The way Kostya looked at the Weigh-in and in the fact make me think he was weight-drained... Take to consideration the fact, that he didn`t make weight the first time, and he was given two hours to dry himself... He looked just awful when he stepped on the scales...
He was 36, and that meant two things:
1 he was VERY experienced
2 it was harder for him to make weight (Please don`t tell me about old Shane. He did a great job beating Margarito, but after all this scandals you just know whether he uses "something" or no...)
When i was talking on the home advantage i meant the referee ("unbiased")... Just look the way the referees behaved in Hatton`s fights against Kostya and Floyd...
When he was fighting Kostya he was allowed to do everything he wanted... It was rather a fighting match than the boxing one
In fight with Floyd Cortez didn`t allow him to do all the clinching and etc...
That is what i think... These are not excuses... Kostya has a TKO loss on his record and nothing will change that, but, IMO, the fact is that Hatton had beaten past-his-prime Tszyu...Comment

Mosley would hardly be likely to use steroids now, with the Balco court case hanging over him, he's not that ******; and in any case there are other examples, such as Hopkins, who was very much still in his prime at 36; or Glenn Johnson, who gave Dawson his toughest fight and nearly beat him, aged 39; or Vitali, who destroyed Peter aged 39.
Tszyu had plenty of time to rehydrate, I still don't accept that weight drain was a significant factor in that fight. Lots of fighters are given two hours to lose weight and do so, and fight well.
Cortez goes too far to the opposite extreme, that's just the way he is; he hardly permits any inside fighting at all; he's far too over-fussy, and never lets boxers fight their way out of clinches - but that's just the way Cortez is, he wasn't biased against Hatton, he's just who he is.
Dave Parris permits too much holding, and allows too many fouls, but that's also just the way he is. Don't forget that Tszyu was every bit as much of a rough house brawler as Hatton is, he just got beaten at his own game that night. Tszyu is one of the roughest, dirtiest fighters I have ever seen, every bit as dirty as Hatton, probably dirtier. He threw plenty of low blows and did plenty of his own holding. I don't think the ref was at all biased, he was pretty even-handed in terms of what fouls he chose to let go. I agree he was way too lenient (on both fighters), but that's just the way he is, just as being over-fussy is the way Cortez is.
Having said that, I think the sanctioning bodies should force all title fights involving more than one nationality to have international referees and judges, as that would get rid of the whole hometown bias issue. I don't understand why that isn't compulsory for all title fights, it should be.
But I still think Hatton's victory over Tszyu was at least as noteworthy as Pac's victories over Morales.Last edited by Dave Rado; 04-27-2009, 05:17 AM.Comment
