would you consider pacquiao the best 140 pounder if he beats hatton?

Manny will be the man if he wins, we can't do anything about that, that's the traditional way to get to a divisional top. Just like you, I have doubts too. I also want to see him fight again at the same weight division against a deserving, well respected and highly ranked opponent, to put any doubts away.
But he will still be the man (if he wins) even if everybody's doubting him. That's the way of the boxing world, which withstood the test of time for over a hundred years...Comment

And that would be your personal opinion, and I respect that. Just like what I previously said, if you think Hatton's the man at 140, and Pacquiao beats him, Manny's the man.
Honestly, I'm having doubts myself about Ricky Hatton being the man at 140 too. There's four (or 5?) Jr. welterweight champions out there at the moment, and Ricky hasn't fought any one of them yet. It just so happen Hatton beat the man back in 05, and now he's the man. A king has to lay it on the line once in a while to prove to all and sundry that he's still the man. It's been 4 years now and I'm still waiting.
... and that's just my personal opinion too.Comment

Bradley has two belts, and wins over Holt and Witter, there's no better candidate outside of the 'super-fight' brigade. Against Pacquiao or Hatton, though, who knows... ? I don't see any evidence that suggests Bradley would be favourite in a fight against either and it's evidence and results that count, not 'I think's'.
Malignaggi. Whatever you might say about the guy after the fight, before it Pauli was generally recognised as the guy Hatton had to beat to demonstrate continued 140 supremacy. Do a trawl through the history here, if you like. Hatton did beat him. But, get rid of one guy and along comes the next...Last edited by The_Visitation; 04-25-2009, 06:54 AM.Comment

I may be wrong, but I think Malignaggi gave up the "throne" before the Hatton fight? I'm not really sure about this, I think I read it somewhere.
But if what you say is true, then my bad...Comment
