I just dont like how there is always an angle to his fights. Its almost as if he is not 100% confident in himself. Not his ability, but himself.

If id asked this question before the Marg fight everyone to a man would of more than likely have picked Cotto and Pac. I dont see how one result can change people's opinions so much. We know Shane is a power Boxer and Marg played right into his hands. Stylistically it was an easy fight for Mosley, but like the Pavlik vs Hopkins fight it was a case of can his 37 year old legs keep up with the pace. Most of us thought he could not, but he halved Marg workrate by holding and went to the body the way he USED to do, and he used the jab a little more. Apart from that i did not see any radical changes?

Personally i think his reflexes are gone. He looked a lot better against Marg, because of Marg's style. Have we forgotten how Cotto outboxed and how he was losing and looked awful against Mayorga ?
I don't think he's that far past his best, obviously he's not what he once was, no one who uses speed and reflexes as much as he does would be what they once were at 37 years of age but as I said, I don't think he's that far past his best, he's still a very fast guy both of hand and foot, his reflexes have slowed for sure but they aren't shot.

He's actually put in very good performances in 3 of his last 4 fights, against Collazo he put in a very good performance, no one has thoroughly beaten Collazo like that, even a young, fresh Andre Berto couldn't do it. Then even in defeat against Cotto he looked pretty good, losing a very close, very competitive decision, I know some people who even had him winning the fight, and then obviously in his last fight against Margarito, where he destroyed the top welterweight in the world.

Now what do those 3 fights have in common that singles the Mayorga fight out? They were all at 147. The Mayorga fight was at 154 and Mayorga had like a 10 pound advantage on him on fight night (Malcolm. would be proud of me for posting that), and if we are to believe him, he had foot blisters in the fight, which can be a pain in the butt to fight with. I also had him winning the fight going into the 12th round pretty clearly, as did 2 of the judges I believe so he wasn't losing.

I saw him use more of his jab against Margarito, saw him use his physical size, saw him use more body work, use more angles and he fought a smarter fight than I thought he would have been capable of doing, he kept his left hand higher, his improvements under Richardson may not have been drastic in any 1 area but add them up and the improvements he made were quite big IMO.

Mosley is the man at 147 just now and is an actually welterweight unlike Marquez or Pacquiao.

I'm all up for this fight.
I dont think he proved that against cotto he proved he can be competitive but i had that fight 8-4 i wouldnt argue 7-5 but it was as if the rounds he won were close rounds cotto was dominating alot of his rounds. Anyways he looked disgusting against mayorga. If anything i think the ones that have best chances against mayweather are 1.cotto 2. pacman shanes trhird. I think pac will be more succesful than shane cause hes the fastest in the game faster than mayweather . I see mayweather getting hit more than hes used to with those quick hands and will actually get frustrated.

Im sorry i respect your opinion. I just dont see it.
        I agree.

Cotto won a close but clear decision but Mosley gave him one hell of a fight. Being outboxed by Cotto isn't a bad thing either, Cotto is a very good fighter.

he did look poor against Mayorga but i wouldn't pay too much attention to that performance because it was at 154 where Mosley has never looked that great.

His last performance is one to watch because it is clear that with his new trainer Richardson he is a better and smarter fighter. With Richardson in his corner you have to increase Mosley's chances because of the strategies Richardson's creates to beat a fighter.

Good post. Some good points. I cant believe you would have him winning the Mayorga fight. He had no rhythm going what so ever and i did not see him put one good round together apart from the last 1 or 2.

I know your a big SSM fan, but come on there is no way he was winning that fight. The judges cards are just their interpretation it does not make them right. I have no idea what they were watching if they think SMM was winning that fight.

That in my eyes would of been a robbery if Mosley had not scored that KO and they had gone to the cards.

            Precision fair play.

I will have to agree to disagree. I just think the Marg fight flattered him big time. I like Shane, but id rather see Mayweather fight the current P4P champ than a 37 year old.

First time i watched the fight i had Mayorga ahead going into the final round.

Second time i watched it i had Mosley ahead going into the final round.

I felt Mosley's cleaner shots were better than Mayorgas wild swinging shots. Mayorga was winning rounds based on being a tad more active but Mosley was clearly landing the better shots throughout the bout.

I had it 105-104 Mosley going into the last round, it was definitely an ugly fight though.

I'm not a big fan of his, I respect him. And I had him losing the fight to Cotto, 115-113, close but clear. I was just saying that I know people who had him winning, they are in the minority but they are there nonetheless.

I think Mayweather can out box Mosely too easily at this stage. Margaritos hype kinda went off the charts when he got a perfect style match up for him by the name of Cotto. Shane just did to him what everyone would have thought before the Cotto fight.

Pacquiao serves the best chance, Marquez has the skill and determination, but he seriously needs to put on a little weight if he plans to be competitive even at 140. At 135 he seems too light and get's pushed around too easy.

Shane's still a very good fighter but I think Cotto would be slightly more competitive against Floyd. Shane beat a one handed Collazo(injured his hand) and Margarito was tailor-made for some1 like Shane. I think beating Cotto would mean more on Floyd's resume than a past prime Shane Mosley.
