Its not as impressive when you beat someone coming up in weight. Beating someone your size or bigger makes it a better victory regardless of who you beat. Floyd has hyped himself up so much i think he's scared to lose in fear he will get laughed at.

Floyd tooks some risks earlier in his career, like Corrales and Castillo, but I fear it's cherry picking from here on out. Look on the bright side, at least he'll keep his 0.

        this is a fair post.
so you are basically saying floyd has to be at a physical disadvantage in order for you to think that he would have a chance to lose?

Floyds been at 147lbs for 4 years... is it unfair to assume he has grown into the weight by now?

If Cotto rehydrates to 160 lbs on fight night, that means he had to DEHYDRATE that much weight to make weight...

I would actually put Floyd at an ADVANTAGE for BEING at that weight...

Dehydration takes away from your stamina and durability... I'm YET to see Floyd tired, ONCE.

But dude, that's the problem. YOU are insinuating Floyd is at a disadvantage at WW, but why? Why isn't Floyd fighting at 140 if he's this smaller guy? Why the fuss to have Marquez fight at 147? Why wasn't Hatton vs Floyd at 140? Maybe because...FLOYD IS A WELTERWEIGHT in this stage of his career???

Him fighting Marquez simply because he's the #2 guy in the world is such a cop out. He hasn't fought above 135 and Floyd wants him to jump up 2 weight classes. In that case I can have Shane Mosley vs JMM too, right? Both are P4P fighters. Would you call that a fair and competitive fight? Or is Mosley now bigger than Floyd?

My thing is truthfully, If you're a fan of a top fighter, why try to make excuses on why your fighter shouldn't fight another top guy? Like, people would rather see Floyd fight Pacquiao and JMM over Cotto and Mosley? I find that incredibly hard to believe.

floyd already fought in 5 different divisions.

I do want floyd to fight mosley and cotto, but that will probably happen next year

I hear a lot of talk about fight night weights on this forum, without any attention paid to weight drain. The one fight that Paul Williams lost, was the fight where he rehydrated the most in his career. Coincidence? I don't think so, especially when he came in a lot lighter in the rematch and demolished him. The most I've seen Floyd rehydrate was about 10 pounds, against Chavez, and he didn't look his usual self in that fight.

Yeah, I'm sorry but I see rehydrating up to 160lbs in a 147lb division... of not muscle, but just water... It's not healthy, it makes you heavier, and it slows you down.

I would much rather be an in shape 147lb with no real weight fluctuation, then gain 13lbs of water in a single night, and have to fight?

Floyd has the advantage in that situation, he's a fast fighter, and he stays light to retain that advantage. Someone like Cotto weighing 160lbs trying to keep up with Floyd? Gaining all that water just worsens the situation to me...

It's also the repeated weight drain that takes a toll on you. I used to wrestle in high school, and it used to mess with my strength and endurance. Now I didn't have a full day to rehydrate, but I usually had a couple of hours. Don't.miss.making.weight.at.all.

Look how good Williams looked at MW, where he only rehydrated about 5 or 6 pounds, instead of the usual 11 to 17. Look how good Adamek is doing at CW, where he doesn't gain weight at all overnight?
