Then they were like "You coward, why wont you fight Kessler" so Joe ****ed his **** up, then it was all "why wont you fight American fighters scumbag! so Joe won a good fight with bernard (im a b-hop fan) and then it was "why don't you fight Jones, yeah! Jones by brutal KO, so joe schooled Jones, then it was "Chad Dawson, yeah fight him now or your ****!"


Seriously, has any other boxer been hounded by hbo like this, I just watched a bunch of Joes fights and i never noticed before but he did everything they asked for and they just refused to give him credit.

I'm the first to admit.. Joe does tend to slap a bit.. But look who he's been in with, & never even received a broken nose.. The reason for this, is because he is an ATG boxer, but I expect 'The Ring' will have him at no55 or something.. If Joe had carried on, he'd have owned Dawson and then mopped up at C/W aswell..

Yes, I think alot of people shortchange him when it comes to his career. I'm guilty of this, as well.

It also had to do with HBO being an American network and how the American boxing press have always labeled European fighters or athletes, in general. They always refer to the European style as being soft with more finesse. They same the same towards Dirk Nowitski (GDR) and Andrea Bargnani (ITA) of the NBA. There's a perception that they are soft and in boxing, that's a dangerous label.

The only thing that bugs me is that some people believe he is an ATG because of his unblemished record. He had a good career, maybe even great in Europe, but not an ATG. Anyone who says this is bias and is being illogical.

One thing he did well, was win. Obviously. I'll give him that.

Dawson stands a good chance on KO'ing Calzaghe. Just look at Jones and Hopkins Knocking down Joe at the age they are in.

Pysics generally demands that if you take a hard enough force to your body, your likely to fall.

What's key here, is how hurt you are. That is, chin. Calzaghe took good shots from both infact the Roy one off the arm bone, and still carried on virtually un harmed, un phased.

seriously he could do all that easily but what's the point! he already beat lacy! isn't that good enough people! hbo was saying he was the next tyson(even though the fight was on showtime)

The numbers are around the same, but one actually hurts their opponent and throws real punches with intent.

But the best I've been inside the ring with was Joe Calzaghe in sparring. Beforehand, I thought he was quite boring to watch and looked as if he slapped but, **** me, he punches hard. If he slapped, Bernard Hopkins would've stood toe-to-toe with Joe, but he [Hopkins] got on his bike, didn't he? If Joe and Nigel [Benn] had fought, I think Joe would have been able to take the pain and would've ended up hurting Nigel, bit like Michael Watson did.
